I just wanted to share an ongoing dispute I am having with Bovada. I initially chose Bovada to play at because I read and heard good things about their customer service, but I have only experienced the opposite so far.
First of all, when I made my initial deposit, Bovada didn't charge the amount I requested to my card. They overcharged me and then told me the extra charge was an international transaction fee from my bank. I provided them with documents showing that was not the case and that the bank had charged me a separate international transaction fee already. Even after receiving the documents as proof, they would not refund the overcharge of a few dollars.
Then, just a few days ago, I go to make my first withdrawal from the site and it tells me that a portion of my balance is locked due to a pending bonus. I have no active bonus so I contact support. They inform me that I have a Table Games Bonus and that if I wanted to withdraw I would have to forfeit the bonus. In other words, I would have to give Bovada the amount of the bonus (even though I never played the Table Games, never requested the bonus, and never unlocked any portion of it).
So Bovada is applying a dubious "bonus" to my balance in order to discourage me from cashing out. And if I do indeed want to cash out, I basically have to pay them a huge fee to do so by forfeiting a bonus that I never accepted and never earned anything from.
Buyer beware at Bovada. Everytime I contact their support team about this I get the runaround. They simply provide links to their bonus details and ignore my requests and questions. I am furious right now! This site is very, very shady and unethical. I wish pokerstars had never left the US.
