Hi folks,

i'm, regarding the online poker scene with all possibilities around the market
for a while. Isn't it true that iPoker and MPN Sites are hosting less and less tournaments in which the number of players are steady shrinking?
I think they wont do it longer then 2 years...

What do you think?

(The only interesting thing on Ipoker fpr example, are the are the twisters, but since i lost my 5k game i'm not in the mood to try it again... )

You might be right with the I poker network with the recent closing of Iron Poker. The promotions are not bad if you play a lot but i think the network is losing players to the bigger sites.

Despite the fact that there are also new start ups (betlive.com on ipoker) or network changes like redbet on mpn for example, i don't believe in a growth of these networks in general

If anything they are going to get bigger, partypoker is the only site that can eventually compete with stars. right now stars is winning but partypoker are doing alot and whilst stars continues to make it harder other sites will take over i hope..

That would be logical except highly unlikely if we look at the history of iPoker. I've played on a half dozen ipoker sites dating back to 2007. Years ago they actually held some large field higher buyin MTT's & also a yearly IPOPS & mini-IPOPS series. Now they dont' even have ANY higher buyin MTT's and the numbers have been quartered in the lower buyins. Scroll down through the lobby... it's a micro stakes & lowstakes MTT's only.
I've also played ~3/4 million hands of cash games on the network as well. Aside from things like the software being lightyears behind other sites & customer support for many of the iPoker sites being the nut Lo, the numbers of players has dropped significantly (~1/4 of the number of players at each stake vs. just 2yrs. ago. That is a HUGE drop in player numbers.).

As was already mentioned in this thread, 'sportsbook' is where many of the iPoker network sites make their money (ie. williamhill). For the ones who don't have a large sportsbook I can see them dropping off as others have already done.

Yeah I think it was back in 09/10 ipoker was averaging like 13k people now its more like 3/4k, I was mainly talking about party poker and the recent changes they have made in the right direction. Software update and bringing new 'pro' players on board to promote the site such as Dzmitry Urbanovich, Mike Sexton, Tony Dunst, Sam Trickett and Johnny Lodden.

888s software is pretty far behind and I don't think they have any plans in the pipeline to update, so I wouldn't be surprised if party poker started getting a higher interest in players down the line.
