Important Announcement on PokerStars School Changes for 2019

Starting in 2019, all tournaments, leagues and promotions will be local rather than global.
In summary, what does this mean for you?

More chances to reward and win.
More chances to try and develop the game in the final stretch and tournament final table
More convenience - all available tournaments will be at the best time for our region
Less time needed to play our tournaments and leagues
More chances to win on promotions
Improving community sense - playing against players in your community, in your language, chatting in the forum, and being able to exchange more experiences

Our plan is to change all tournaments and promotions to become local by January 1, 2019.

We also plan to bring you new content to help improve your game. Soon the courses of Cash Game 6-max, Spin & Go and Zoom will be launched, as well as many new articles of strategy and training.

Thats cool, i thing... but they will not have such good prizes locally.

This is an ever evolving beast, take a look at the number of times pokerstars has changed the school and their respective competitions in the past few years, as a business i appreciate it has to evolve and move with the times but Pokerstars for me never does anything without Profit, i am very interested in seeing what these changes entail as they totally messed up the league format not so long back in a deliberate attempt to make more money from games that were once free and then they put in costs for Masters leagues etc..

I have my doubts here but happy to be proved wrong...

Many, on the contrary, prefer to play with foreigners in tournaments. Everyone has different tastes.

I would like to have more depth stacks in tournaments at the beginning. Many have such a desire with which I spoke, and I personally think so. Moreover, if it is necessary for the tournament to pass quickly, you can quickly increase the level of the blind. Then the tournament will not drag on, only a little time will be added at the beginning to play deep stacks, and then everything goes quickly and “as usual”, “according to the old scheme”. And then immediately start with short stacks, it's somehow unfair, it turns out some kind of castrated poker.

It is also worth adding some tournaments in Omaha, more specifically, at your discretion. Just because Omaha plays more and more people every day, and this is also a very interesting game, it has many advantages over Hold'em, even if there are some disadvantages.

New courses are very good, but not enough.

It is desirable to divide both courses and trainings into at least 2 categories: 1) for absolutely beginners; 2) advanced courses. At the moment, almost all educational materials belong only to the first category, and even they are very outdated, they can be useful only for beginners and that's it. But in our community, the percentage of newbies is also significant.

And in advanced courses, one doesn’t waste time talking about obvious things that all beginners have learned long ago, but give only advanced material, based on the fact that all the basics for a player have long been known. If a newcomer enters an extended study session and asks questions about the basics, simply send it to read the first category training materials so as not to waste time on “repeating the multiplication table”.



I would also like to return a high-quality analysis of distributions in any form, because these were both interesting and highly developed participants.

And more intelligent actions, such as “Hand of the Week” and “Poker Tasks” , instead of boring and non-developing, “guess the password”, “guess the combination”, “find the differences between the two pictures” and all that.

unfortunate for this change ... I have no luck playing against Brazilian .... these PS school games every day worse ... do what? forget or know the luck change and these Brazilians stop winning me counting on luck ....
I even liked it when the PS school games were only 2 levels .... a great bingo .... I even enjoyed training to get to the final table at that time.

So I am assumeing that this also means they are getting rid of the school pass satellites for spin and gos or big bang and replacing them with the school pass turbo freebuy event.

This was a great freeroll before and actually had decent prizes. It is a great use of the school passes. Way better value then the satellite games.

As for the new league structures I am not quite sure how it will work. The master level already does not have the biggest numbers of entrants, and definately not many Canadians.

I do like the monthly 1000$ community tournament, hopefully there will not be some stipulation to enter (like a scratch n match ticket), and be available to all community members of the school.

Need see if for brazil have good prize tournaments.

I play in switzerland, and pokerstars always links games/tournaments to france. After that change, if there's nothing new here, what will i be able to play?

we shall see how it goes but if history proves itself stars is very stingy and does not give things away without a hitch but if they do then great if not no sweat either its been like a wash pan anyway lately so lets wait and find out

This will not be such a bad thing really. It will give some people the opportunity to play in the league games without having to commit to playing 32 games. It also offers a bit of variety in the school pass tournaments that offer real cash prizes instead of the weak satellites they offered before.

I personally welcome these changes and they will likely do some sort of promo that will give us some chances to win school passes.

The Big Bang is not exactly very easy to win a seat. The only way to get this ticket is by winning the satellite, which is no easy feat.

I have played this tournament a few times from winning the satellites, and the prizes are quite nice. My best finish was around 90th for $11.50 I think.

The field tho was quite large, probably around 700-800 entrants, these monthly community tournaments will instead give the prize to a smaller, localized field.. so in essence it may still offer a higher Prize$$/Entrant Ratio.

There will also apparently be no barriers to entering, unlike the big bang tournament.

Sounds awesome, good changes. I'm really looking forward to this new approach.

I am hoping the changes are for the better but, like many here, I'll wait and see. The recent changes give new players 3 months of freerolls in the initiation level and then Pstars hopes the newbies will make a deposit to play in the "masters" level. After being repeatedly crushed in the bingo style freerolls I wonder how many new players will think it's a wonderful idea to start playing for real dollars after only 3 months.

I suspect this new business model will not work out as well as Pstars folks hoped. Perhaps they are confident there are no rival sites that will try to scoop up customers with a netter set up for new players. and, I'll bet the School players who were still playing only freerolls have not all trooped over to the master level by snaking a deposit'

Interested to see how this will play out. My interested for Pokerstars school league vanished after they changed the format from elementary/highschool/university/master. That format gave a true incentive to play and improve your rankings with the relegation and promotion situation. Hopefully it will be more similar to that instead of everyone being able to compete in the masters league!
