So i went in, and i'm going to use Fulltilt's Academy challenges, so i can track how i'm doing.
So far i did one of the SnGs, got 30 Credits, i can redo it up to 10 times.

My goal 8,100 Credits, to get a SnG book...

I lost like $20 trying to do the "SBG by numbers" challenge. then decided to just buy the book. it more than paid for itself. and the 30 cent satellites to dailt dollar count twice in that challenge i think. and there the cheap way to do the intro to SNGs.

I've always got one running just to accumulate the points - I'll be converting them into cash bonuses as soon as I've got enough. Up to 5727 at the moment.

Both mastering the bubble and SNG by the numbers are pretty straightforward. Some of the cash game ones are pretty easy too.

You can clear the pre flop play really fast, especially if u multitable, I've cleared it a few times multitabling .01/.02nl lol. Also you can complete arptial ones also, I have completed SNG by numbers, and BR managent, and have partially completed alot of them. If you buy something from the store there does it affect rakeback?

I havent really been paying attention to the academy points idea.. I briefly looked at it when i first say the promotion and pretty much decided that i cudnt be bothered.

Was i wrong? Is it good? Should i try it?

I saw someone say that you can trade the points in for cash bonuses....that sounds pretty good actually....might try it :D

Wish there was a way you could see how many times you have completed a challenge

Yeah, I've really been enjoying playing through the Academy as well. One thing I wish (and in fact asked support about) was an exact count on the starting bankroll value used in Ferguson's Bankroll Management challenge. If you convert T$ into cash at any point, or even get awarded T$ in some cases, it counts as a transaction and resets your account value to whatever the new result is. So for me, I was winning well and moving up on my third count on that, and just couldn't seem to hit it because I kept on catching T$ or converting and not realizing it changed the start value.

Overall, they're great, and I want the hoodie. :)

Could someone send me a link to these FTPA challenges? I can find the page but not the actual challenge requirements. The reason I ask is because I am going to deposit soon and am debating between a few sites. FT has a higher rake at micro stakes, but if they also have a very good instructional section with this FTPA than I would definitely choose FT over PS, or maybe just do both haha

I like the Academy. It is a good way for players to practice the correct fundamentals that most winning poker players possess.

However, it can get you in trouble if you're doing the challenges ONLY for the academy points because you'll be making plays that may not be optimal against the types of players you may face.

Example: In one of the cash games challenges Chris Fergosen tells you to raise certain amounts in certain positions. If you have a lot of loose players at your table who call smallish raises with a wide range of hands, you should raise more than the amount Chris tells you because you want to thin the field and try to get your good hands heads up.

Just something to think about when doing these challenges.

Both should be easy for me, i get to shove on hands that i don't play much.

That one should not be hard, be easy for me.

Thats a good point, thats why i'm doing it.

It may be a problem well playing short stacked. You will even get the fish to call to 4X bb raise.

I think the Fulltilt Academy challenges teach you how to play, without the use of a program..

QFT - some plays are definitely made just to get the points, but you also have the option of picking and choosing your spots, if you just want to take a little longer when completing the challenges. The above message definitely seems correct to me as well though. Dang min-raise in first position with AA just seems to spawn eight limpers behind, hah. :D

You could look at it this way. Your UTG1, you get AA, you mid raise now someone in late position who maybe looking to steal the pot if he re-raises you what are you going to do when it comes back to you? I know what I'm doing, I'm shoving my stack in..

Does that sound right, or sound good to anyone???

pretty standard imo ;) unless he folds to 3bet frequently - then I'd 3bet him a little less to get him in.

Absolutely correct, you're always at least ahead, and only equal to another pair of aces. However what blows is that some real percentage of the time, you're going to get sucked out on. Even an 80% favourite like AA vs another pair is going to lose one out of every five times. :(

This is a good strategy for some mid and high stakes games, but I don't think it is an optimal play for micro stakes games.

I don't see many players trying to steal pots from late position in $25NL and under. The best way to play micro stakes is to play straight forward ABC poker. There are a lot of calling stations at that level.

So, with AA I would raise at least 3.5x UTG at micro-stakes.

If you want to track your overall bankroll progress I find that it can be pretty good reflection of where/when you're playing properly... alot of websites make you pay for it but at www.sharkscope.com u have 5 searches a day or something like that. If you're looking for self-reflection I suggest checking out that site.

I could shove all-in and still lose with AA so it has to be better!!!! well for me anyway..

I was raising 5X the BB and was still getting calls with AA. tho the flop bet made them fold.;) all-in :)
I'm willing to try, I've had more folds to a 2.5x raise then to a 4x raise..

Good luck with your credit accumulation! =) I just started the Academy now that I read this post. Thanks. =) New goals are always fun. I didn't even know it was there until now..I usually just jump on the frees and play.

Are the credits easy to get? Well I'm gonna check it out and see what happens. Bye!

Thanks, u2.

Yes, some are easy to get.
