(not talkin about this sites free rolls, im talkin about like royal vegas 5 thousand person and party poker 16000 person free rolls)

Although, if you are a freeroll junkie, there are some smaller reputable sites out there that have freerolls. Much smaller fields to beat. Decent payout structures (more or less) and, depending on the site, less stringent rules for withdrawing funds.

you'll still get the occasional bad beats, but you'll get that anywhere.

Hate to be the spelling nazi around here, but when you spell retarded "retarted" it makes you look, well, retarded.

I agree, Buck. It definately takes patience to wade thru 10K+ players to even sniff the payout. It may not be much, but it feels good after it's all said and done sometimes.

what are some of these less reputable sites? or some of your favorites for free rolls?

EDIT: and yea buck your right it does take patience...but no amount of skill and patience will get you a win in a 16000 person tournament consistently ( unless ur skill is managing to see everyone elses cards:p)

Not less reputable sites. Smaller sites that ARE reputable.

or some of your favorites for free rolls?
Check out JunglePoker.com and see what you think. CardsChat doesn't have an affiliate link with them, so go their site directly.

The interface isn't bad, although I think their avatars are a little goofy. But I think the rest of it is very clean and suits my tastes. While I do play at many sites (gotta love NetTeller), I like the freerolls at Jungle Poker. You play against fields of hundreds, not thousands. And there are NO RESTRICTIONS on freeroll winnings. You win it, it is yours. Their buy in tourneys and cash tables have limited players for the most part, but you can get in and make some money there too. Just a matter of checking back.

One last note, though. Don't waste your time on the $2 Tuesday freerolls. They run a freeroll like every hour on Tuesday with a prize pool of $2.00. Even small freerolls aren't worth it when 1st place pays $.50.

D'oh im an idiot thats what i meant.
Kind of figured that, but hey, never hurts to be clear.

On the other hand, if you are looking for some questionable or less reputable sites on which to risk your personal information and money, let me know. I have one or two of those as well. :D

Freerolls

I played in a freeroll against 12,000 on Bet365 poker and won like 500 bucks for finishing third...it is very hard to sit around and wait but unless you get a high pocket pair just sit back and wait till the blinds go up a little and most of the people get out

Wow, good call on junglepoker. I signed up today, took a bad beat early in a $50 freeroll and finished 498/536, oh well. But to my amazement, 50 minutes after the start of the tournament, only 61 players remained. I like that site.

I play Full Tilt freerolls

if I have run out of funds... the payout isn't incredible, so a game somewhere else would be great...they run between 2 1/2 hours to 5 ...uggghhh

The only way...let me repeat that...the ONLY way you will ever enjoy the slightest measure of success in a large MTT freeroll is to crawl into a cave for the first three hours. It's boring, it's maddening, it's frustrating. But you simply must stay out of harm's way as much as possible until the wildest of the wild have been eliminated, the field has been reduced to a reasonably manageable number, and the ratio of poker players to morons goes up.

That means nothing but AA, KK, and AKs for the first two hours (except for the occasional limped-in BB). No QQ, no JJ, no middle pairs late, no suited connectors on the button. AA, KK, AKs. Period. By the time the third hour rolls around, you've established yourself as a monumental rock because you've played maybe six hands, and you can begin to pick off a few pots here and there from late position. But other than stabbing at some weak bets, you still only play big starters. No screwing around with marginal hands whatsoever.

At no time during the courtship phase should you sweat your position. The stacks will ebb and flow around you and the leaderboard will show huge stacks. No worries. You're only concerned with surviving. You haven't even shown them your real game yet. They're clueless. When you do open up the playbook and shift gears into full poker mode, the real tournament has just begun.

It's a marathon. Ignore the rabbits and turtle up. It's bonafide. :eating:

Two reasons why I also never play freerolls anymore:

1) 4 hours of hard-fought poker to get the message "Congratulations $0.94 has been credited to your account" is most definitely NOT for me.

2) If you DO get to the final table out of 1000s of players JUST THINK OF THE DOLLARS YOU COULD HAVE MADE IF IT WAS A real money MTT!!! That "if only..." feeling would actually hurt.

PS - Of course, what I should have said was "a real money buy-in MTT"

The best freerolls I've found are at poker4ever.com. They run four NLHE freerolls a day--$50 at 8am, $200 at 3pm, and $300 at 12pm and 8pm--plus an Omaha H/L freeroll at midnight. The best part, though, is that the tournaments are 2000 players max (and usually only draw about a 1000) with the top prizes being obscenely high (1st place in the $300 game is $72), and everyone in at least the top 80 gets a couple cents.

Sorry for your frustration as I understand what you're talking about. Especially the first few hands when five people go all-in with crap. It happened to me the other day when I had AA. I knew I was going to get sucked out on but I just can't fold. I lost to 45 off when he hit two pair and the board didn't pair. Because of plays like this though I've went pretty deep into tournies. Yesterday I came in 38th out of 1,169 in my second railbird tourney. Anyway good luck in the future and I hope to see you soon, maybe at a big stakes game.
