In unregulated markets, I believe 50% or more of the players are using bots.

I have no facts to present...

That is all....

That could be true. How do you tell if you are playing with a bot? Maybe pokers sites should use I am not a bot for sign in. Could that help?

I doubt pokerstars will allow that to happen lol...it's possible that they play their pro's so that they don't lose and they also play the big spenders...but can't say for sure!

I understand your frustration in your post and likely there is a fair amount of CC members who may agree to some extent with your post.
But, without actual proof all anyone has is their feelings to this possibility.
Many sites do and have made multiple statements to the effect that they have reason in doing these types of activities since they make their money taking “RAKE” from every single player on their sites. Which if we step back a second and rationalize these statements it really does not make very much sense for them to actually do this?
BUT……… lol ............ I feel your pain :)

I understand how you may feel this way. Sometimes I wonder myself if people are bots I play against. However, I wouldn't think that it would be as high as you have stated. But, I do understand how you feel.

Perhaps the cardrooms should put a CHAT CAPTCHA feature in the next update?

Not sure

I don't think there are as many bots as players are saying. I do think are a few being used but not that many overall.

There HAS to be a fair number of bots because some of the plays I have seen (whether I'm in the hand or not) would NEVER be made by an actual human being.

The worst one I ever saw was at a final table of a big MTT (around 6000 players). I was still alive in the tournament but not involved in the hand at all.

At this point in the tourney, the pay jumps are huge (obviously) and so no one would be willing to risk their tournament life on a whim.

Two of the players at the table end up going all-in pre-flop. One player has AK suited, the other has 82o.

Wouldn't you know it, the flop comes 882. I mean, c'mon. No human being with a pulse would have made that play with that hand, yet there it was.

I'm not saying that the game is fixed, but there are way too many suspicious plays to chalk it up to player stupidity or "playing a hunch".

A lot of websites have a pop up window to type in what is on the screen in disfigured letters and/or numbers to prove that I am not a robot. Why can't the poker sites require that whenever entering a tournament or cash table?

I'm not convinced - if you make an extraordinary claim the burden of proof is on you.

Having been called a bot numerous times by salty opponents I trust these claims about as far as I can throw them.

And no, people making bad plays and getting lucky lends very little to the argument.

Good luck!

Hello.
It does not matter to me and I do not need any proofs. The fact is that in any case poker is more profitable for me than a casino or slot machine. First of all, you need to work on yourself and on improving your game.

I think this technology game/war between owners and thief or other scammers who try to rob the money is keeping on since ever. Poker sites has better and better security system and thieves better and better tools to trick them.... it always was and (i hope not) always will, just technology and methods are different, this is still this same race and play between scammers and protectors.

You must be very young to make a statement that no humans would ever make such crazy/stupid plays [ i am para-phrasing ].
Trust me when I tell you, the world is full of REAL STUPID individuals
So never count out the dumb things people can and do.

Maybe he had to go to work or mom told him to go to bed???
You never know as it's online.
In this case you should grab all the next hands of this guy and report it if there are more actions like this. But report it with a lawyer, the bot could be from the site owners, or a superuser. You will NEVER be able to proof, so accept it and fight them or play live.

Amused by all the non-believers, oh well :)

You know the things are bad when one of the leaders in the market publish that kind of an article. The last part of it I find especially disturbing.

Pokerstars actually have this feature, I have not seen one recently but they have been around more than 5 years now.

Perhaps the cardrooms should put a CHAT CAPTCHA feature in the next update?

Bots have always been around and will continue to do so. I am sure that there are people running scripts to automate playing and optimize playing. I have seen some, I have played against some, I have heard rumors of many.

Using a bot does not necessarily mean that success will automatically come your way.. Poker is a strange game you can do everything right and still come out on the loosing end. I can make the argument that against good players a bot has little chance cause they cannot not adjust for players making a play once in a while out of the ordinary.

Players who use bots and scripts of that nature are taking a huge risk of being banned from Pokersites for sometimes little or no reward. Not to mention they miss out on the greatest benefit of Poker with it being a fun game to play.

Clearly there are some bots out there, no doubt. But its nowhere near 50%. Closer to 1% than 50%, that's for sure. If youre playing at small stakes or freerolls, guess what, youre going to see a massive amount of stupid plays, that might even mimic bot play. Part of playing at those levels, imo.
