I had a brainwave this week. I play a lot of full tilt poker points satellites, qualify for the next round, and then unregister to take the points instead of the chance to play in the next round's satellite. Full Tilt has made this more difficult by awarding tickets to those who qualify, instead of the possibility to unregister for points, but there are still a few sats where I can do it. I can see why Full Tilt is trying to make this more and more difficult, because there is no rake for points satellites. If 5,450 points were paid into the satellite, then 5,450 worth of prizes are awarded. Why would Full Tilt want to host lots of satellites in which they make no money?
The solution, why not allow FTP ring games (with rake). You could sit down at a cash table, but with points instead of cash. A small percentage of the points in each pot would be raked by the house. This way, players could continue to build up a FTP bankroll, but Full Tilt would have the advantage of taking some of those points out of circulation. Everyone seems to win!
