I've been playing poker on and off for about 10 years. Mostly on party poker, a bit on PKR and some others.

Anyway I recently joined wsop, and was playing a small $1,500 tournie, nothing major. I had 8 clubs, 9 spades in blind, a guy called early on, he had 9, 7 both harts, and guy behind had KJ off suit.

So flop goes 10 clubs, 9 diamonds, 4 clubs, turn was 6 hearts, 5 diamonds, pot was just over 2K (chips) and I thought I won, but it split it between me and the other guy who had 9, 7, I thought my 8 was good.

So I phoned up and at first she said she thought I should win, but let me look at hand. So she looked and then said, because they were both low kickers its a split pot???????

I've never had anything like this before, and wondered if anyone else has?

Thanks herc

I just woke up, and my head is thumping so maybe I'm not looking at this right. I will look again after I've had something to eat. But for now, I'm gonna say that you each flopped a pair of 9s. He would have had 10-7 kickers. You would have had 10-8 kickers and should have won. It doesn't matter what size your kickers are. If they play, then they play. In this case, it looks like they should have played.

Are you sure he didn't win a side pot or have an uncalled bet returned to him or something? If the hand played out the way you state, then you should have clearly won the hand. I just can't see how a computer could get that wrong.

I'm thinking that you're misremembering something about the hand, either a side pot or the cards that were in play. This is something so extremely simple for a computer program to get right that it's virtually impossible to happen.

And before somebody mentions the Helmuth hand from UB years ago where it slid him the pot despite being the loser... aside from it being LOL UB, as I recall there was something to do with a player timeout or disconnect situation in that hand that complicated things and caused the code to make a bad decision about who gets the pot. It was kind of a perfect storm of events that had never occurred (or been reported) before. It isn't something that can happen in an ordinary situation.

This is why everyone should enable saving HH's with clients that provide the feature. If you had posted the original HH, everything would be clear.

I was shocked and agree, but this is what happened, even the person on the customer service phone said at first I should win, then she changed her mind after reading something saying that because we both had small kickers they don't count. Has not happened since, was annoying, thought I was seeing things, I even previewed the hand in playback to double check!
Was only a small tournie, Tournament 43259694 $1,500 guaranteed buy in $3.50. fold2that was his name, I'm Punisher2012 on taht site, not that I'm playing there again now. time to have a break from WSOP.
I know I should have won, just a freak virtual accident I guess somehow (can't figure it), the customer service person even said the outcome was right in the end, lol and it should have been split by their rules!!!!
