Of course black friday was horrible...and I think most of us never thought we would play online again. It took me a year to decide I'd give it a try again, and a few months later I find myself actually comfortable, and enjoying my time on Merge (BCP and Carbon). With the recent p2p policy change, I don't feel comfortable at all anymore. P2P transfers were how I got my money on and off the site quickly...now its nearly impossible to get funds on unless doing Western Union, and getting funds off via check is preposterous due to wait times being over 2 months and reliability of support being increasingly useless as of late. I mean I love to play and I love the convenience of online poker but where the hell am I supposed to play now...Lock?? I've heard so many horror stories about Lock and that seems to be the only other semi-viable option for us now. In other words, I think it is finally completely -EV to play online poker for us USA players. And that is super ****ing dissapointing.

Yup, looks like we'll be off the poker grid for at least a few more years. I've kinda gotten used to it though. I play live about 2-3 times a month and really like it. All those years sitting in front of a computer screen seems like a different life now.

I personally dont think its every gonna get started in the states. It will get lip service, maybe even a site gets up but, they will have protests and then someone willl add some amendment on some bill to ban it all together and then it starts all over again. Im jsust trying to get my game right with whats available so I can get my live game super right. THE CC COMMUNITY will make me a live monster

Hate to agree with you, but I'm in the same boat. I mess around in free rolls, but the days of having hundreds or thousands in my bank roll are long over. Just can't trust the sites anymore, and the government seems hell bent on busting them anyways. Sad.

Lock is not the only option, you can play on juicy stakes for the Revolution Network and they have some large Deposit Bonus' going now. Another strong option is Americas Cardroom if you play cash or MTT (SNGs not very strong atm) and they have the fastest cashout times in the US and many can even get visa to work for Deposits

I think ACR is the best option now for US players. The traffic is slow, but growing pretty fast.

Seriously??? I really don't think Bally's, MGM Resorts International and Caesars Entertainment would be putting out money to position themselves in online poker if it was only going to be in one or two states for long. I believe it's going to happen, maybe not this year, but more than likely soon after. There are just too many big names getting in position already, for the day it does. Just my opinion.

America's cardroom for US players is only for play money so yeah it does get discouraging PDC is still good if I could only get more cash on there a bit easier.

This DoJ Black Friday bullshit can't keep poker out of the U.S forever; we've gotta catch a break SOME TIME. At least a government-regulated site.

Wait, what? Are we not allowed to trade on merge anymore? If so, F***
That's how I moved money. Is this for real? I never check that email.

I brought thisup somewhere else too. If its not passed federally, then states are opening themsevles up to geting busted over and over and Im sure that means people getting money seized. Look at the pot dispensaries in CA, its state legal but the feds keep busting them (see tv show weed wars). So Im sure once everyone feels all comfy playing inNevada BAM the feds will come in and bust them seize money but the sites will remain open and say AHH we got busted but just deposit again your money is safe. Intrastate will never work

Just double checked my ACR software and it is play money only. When I downloaded it they said since I'm from the US play money was the only available software. So either your not from US or you have a different software available.......please share if you do. The only thing you can win there is a book.

ACR is available for real money in all of the United States except for a couple individual states like Washington. You are getting something wrong, no one from ACR is saying that if you are from the US you can only get play money software.

The vast majority of Americas Cardroom real money players are from the US. That is why it is called "Americas" Cardroom :hmmmm2:

I follow the US Online Poker scene very closely and if I say something in these forums about the status of a site you can count on it being true.

I dont think online poker is dead. Down yes.. More experience players yes becuase the experience players are the ones that will jump thru the loopholes. Now not saying it is like how it was before black friday. becuase it online poker enviroment is far less. However it is far from dead..
However we have to watch what gets passed... Like the current Reid/Kyle bill. Right now, from what I read it strengthens the UIGEA and allows it to be approved state by state. Which most states are against. So if passes as is it proably be good for people in nevada.. but then again... how good can it be if only people from nevada can play. And if this bills strengthens the UIGEA (I dont know what ways it does) will that kill what online poker we have now?

I live in America and I play at ACR and cashed in a few freerolls which I turned into a small bankroll of real cash. Could definitely be the state you live in that is leaving you with only a play money option. I live in Arkansas and have no regulations against playing online.

Not quite dead but almost in my opinion. The problem is the ROI. For example I used to get about 10-15% ROI on SNGS on the Cake / Revolution Network. Now it seems like I'm playing to get 2.5%-5% ROI. At the $5 SNG Level that I like to play, you are going to have 3 to 5 good players in each game. Thus, your ROI goes way down, and so does your hourly rate.

So it gets to the point where McDonalds is a better way to make money per hour. You think, well, I'll just play a greater volume. Well, there isn't that much volume even at $5! If you want to play $10 and $15 SNGS on Revolution, you'll get 1/2 to 1/3 of the volume.

Then of course you deal with long cashout times, high cashout fees, and even the possibility of bounced checks, making your effective cashout time even higher.
Pitfalls all the way.

I do not think it is dead at all. Slow yes but not dead. Since I got back into playing online several months ago a lot of friends have asked me how to get in to it. I think that most of the people who want to play for fun just do not know how to go about doing it. They think it is illegal for one, and two they just dont know where to go to play.

So tell your friends how to get started and where to play. It might help get some more people playing. Then they tell their friends who tell their friends and so on. I dont know it might help
