Used to play a lot a few years ago, I was in college and every Monday Night was poker night. Simple $20 buy-in with .25/.50 stakes. Mostly Hold Em' but sometimes we'd find some unique variants to try for a few hands.

It was a really nice experience. Some of the guys were more into poker than the others and I actually learned quite a bit. I'm far from a pro, but it was fun. I never really won or lost much, it was more about the experience than the money.

Now that I've moved from that area and have a full time job with a varying schedule I don't know if I could commit to set nights even if I had a group. It just gets tougher when you get older I guess.

I started to watch Poker out of boredom on Twitch.tv and have been entertaining the idea of trying an online room. I'm well aware that it won't be nearly as social as I had, but it still poker and I can learn and enjoy the game the same way I did before. It's always fun to break a game wide open. I've started playing other games online due to time constraints [chess and other board games] so why not poker.

I'm not an expert on ring games, but from what I see, I can sit at micro stakes table for a few bucks and have some fun maybe.

What would some more experienced folks recommend? Should I just plunk down $20 dollars or so and try Micro stakes?

What sites would be better for a lesser experienced US player? Right now I'm looking at ignition, Americas Card Room, and Bet Online.

I've also been considering some cheaper tournaments instead of ring games. Buy into a tournament and play it out similar to how I would just buy in for $20 for the night. Are some sites better for tournaments than others? Is this a tougher way to play than ring games?

Unfortunately time has become an important variant and as you get older it just gets harder and harder to find space for different activities..

Now concerning your new poker adventures, I'm afraid it all comes down to what you're looking for in poker and what style suits you the most. From reading your post I'm guessing your not looking to make a living off of poker but rather be entertained during your free time, therefore I strongly would recommend looking into ring games or tourneys if you can commit!

Poker room wise, just like stated earlier depends on what you're looking for and the size of your bankroll although I do recommend ACR as it's one of the most popular ones out there in the US and is very well known for its professionalism.

Hope this helped :)

I also play cordiality and for this I believe that there is not much difference from the room, the main thing that would be the game.

For a long time, falling and taking off in the poker world can be strongly intertwined with our personality; Moreover, for many players it is inevitable. When we win more - we are happy, when we lose - we are unhappy. I myself experienced all this, and, believe me, the feelings are not the best. It's important to remember that poker is part of your life, but not all of your life.

Man i miss my old games too. Just havent met anyone in my area yet to go live. I'll be honest and say i miss all the people more than the action, you meet some really good people and some really strange people.

Ive been having some fun on ignition tbh. It might take a minute to get a sng going but when they do its fun. Only you either get a good game or a fish game, i havent seen much in between. But i havent been on there long.
