I am by far no poker expert but when I get jj i do raise a tad preflop and if re-raised, depending on how much will fold. If I do make it to the flop with no overcards will shove if I was not re-raised preflop.

I don't think I've ever won with JJ without shoving preflop. If I check it to the river 99.9% of the time over card fall. JJ is my worst favorite hand to play.

When I get JJ, I usually put in a big raise when I'm in early position, but when I have the button, I min-raise, and hope to hit/outplay post-flop.

That is pretty much what I do. Early position, I might make a smallish raise to deter the A-, K- or Q-crap holders (and hope I get a set or 3 unders - in both cases, I will shove next). Late position (button or blinds), with minimal or no raises, I shove immediately.

That is about what I do to the tee. I have a lot of luck with JJ that way. It's my favorite pockets.

I tend to play them many different ways, depending on position, my relevant stack size and type of players at the table....sometimes I playem like aces....LOL

I like to raise 3 to 4 times the blind to chase out the weak Aces and other overcards. You don't want someone sticking around with Q 10 off and catching the Q. Post flop I almost always bet in order to see where I am at. But if there are overcards and you get reraised you have to let them go. Live to play another hand.

When I get em, I first put on my AFDB, them some blinders (cause I really don't want to see what happens), then I throw a bunch of chips in the pot and stand back to watch the shit fly.;)

All kidding aside, the thing with JJ is that it is a hand that is very position dependent. In early position, with few reads, you would not want to get overly aggressive with them. See a flop? You betcha!. So a limp is reasonable. Late position, with little or no action ahead of you, a raise is reasonable. Likewise a fold if there was much action ahead of you. A reraise in the blinds is reasonable with JJ. Short handed it becomes a borderline monster.

The paired paint thing makes JJ dangerous, and one might do better playing them as if they were 77. Easier to laydown if one thinks that way.

u have to raise from early postion with em . If in late postion do a minimum raise or just limp with em and see what hits the flop

Sometimes its nice if you're the first one to enter the pot to limp with JJ and play it as if they were ducks - hit the flop or fold.

I love that saying.

J/J was my cursed hand for a long long time. It was the only pair hand above 3/3 that I was losing money with.
Then I had a hot streak with J/J that pumped those stats back up to what I think should be normal (close to my T/T stats)

If you hate J/J, just consider them T/T and play them accordingly. You're going to have over cards on the flop a majority of the time, so you don't want a big pot early unless it's against some over-aggressive target that you know is making moves with a huge range of hands.
