Hi.
Just wondered other peoples thoughts, at how many poker sites are springing up!

I understand that poker has become mega popular, but do we really need so many? Most of them use the same networks as well, so inevitably, there are clashes with schedules/tourneys.

Or is it better to stick with just a couple of the more popular sites?

Thanks for your response guys.

I think I'm a little frustrated especially as the sites all seem to be gathering on just a few networks.
Here in uk william hill just went to ipoker, and now most of the betting shops use ipoker as their web poker networks.

Yes, stu, consumer choice is a good thing, but it does tend to be the same thing, we're getting to choose from!

i'm with stu. yes several sites are on the same network but it is always good to have a choice instead of having to play somewhere because that is the only site you have money on. you never know when a special tourny is going to pop up so its good to be prepared. i'm on 22 at the moment.

Networks want to make money, just like any franchising format. To them, the more the merrier.

Investment types want to make money. They take one look at the obscene fees being raked in (pun intended) and they figure they have their own Staples button - " That's Easy ".

Don't think it will turn out quite as bad, but this explosion of poker sites reminds me of an early version of the 'dot.com' bubble.

I'm not here to tell anyone, what site or sites to play, I'm not that shallow, to each their own!. Although I have lost a bit along the way trying the wrong ones. I believe its going to come down to a small handful of sites, that we are going to be allowed to play, when its all said and done~speaking for the USA Player. I do wish these network would SLOW DOWN! enough is enough.

Their are a little over 600 online pokersites today, they are not all trustworthy, that's for sure. I just going to speak for myself here, being a USA Player, I don't have much choice, other than the two Giants PokerStars and FullTilt, then a few networks, and in this order: "Cereus", "Cake", "Merge", (an "Microgamming"-if you already had accounts up). Oh and "EverLeafGamming" and I don't even know how they stay open with their 50 site within that network and 60 cash table players at most, shocks me to see it still up and going.. Then their a couple independents like bodog, Pittbull, and I even have two friends that cash out from Pittbull a couple time each last year, But I don't care for the site .

The Game Time Conflict does affect a player that plays Networks for best shot for their buck, if I was going to focus on playing most sites within a network, trying to suck up the private added money tournament, I would get a router, only way to go, won't help you at "Cereus, but they do work at "CakeNetwork" and "MergeNetwork". If you do have multiple computers to run router, just can't sit at the same table/with same IP Addy. Players move from site to site within a network sucking up what bonuses they can get, thats the honest side of it = their just some much going on its sick!.

Theres also a program that you can play different sites with-in a PokerNetwork on same computer, and at the same time, might already know about this also, but you can ask if interested, I'll reply..

if you are going to play many, get your hands in, get them bonuses unlocked, don't use them as a bank or any site for that matter, Its just to easy to deposit when needed. Look and see how many real money player a network has and keep you ears open for any bad news along the way! Do Your Homework....gl Bro.

Well, can't stop capitolism. There's a huge population out there and imagine how many poker players. Therefore lots of market space to be had still. I don't like the idea such as cake network many sites using them. Why? Can't use the same freaking poker names. Such as Reefer and Players Only. I am a bit weary to sites on the same network. Might be trouble in the long run.

I just use multi computers, but Yea, It is not a free program, it cost $200. buy the Player is free:
http://www.vmware.com/products/player/
But what you need is, Work Station, it comes with a 30 day trail:
http://www.vmware.com/products/ws/

Their are fileshare sites you can use that comes with KeyMaker, if want to take a chance with working out Spyware
seems that every other download from those places come with problems..But it come with a 30 day trial if interested.
Peace.

P.S. just click this: Watch Demo

You are not as secure here as you may think.

Firstly it is possible to detect if an application is running on a VM.

Second, the two VMs will be using the same internet connection so unless you have them routed through two separate anonymous VPN's it will look like two machines on the same physical network.. both of which are running on a VM platform, seem to come online at around the same time.

Sites look out for bots and this does look like bot behavior.

I don't recommend playing in the same MTT's. It's just so you can play dual sites within a network at the same time, for reasons such as: Private Tournaments Conflick, It does work, I have used it...

I have used routers with dual computers for going on three years now, I did have a minor issuse with Cereus three months or so ago, but it was quickly settled with security and I.

Personaly I use dual computers with router, when needed, so I haven't the need for VMware, although the dual mouse is aggervating, I will say: If securty happins to catch you playing in SAME tournaments within the network at the same time, they will without a doubt freeze your accounts and will be investigated. So what Stu_Ungar has said, should be understood by everyone, with intention to use.

Simply put, there is no Federal law regulating internet gambling. Therefore, not 'illegal'.

A few US States have laws against online gambling. Do your homework (as suggested).

The Federal regulations against online gambling are directed to the financial institutions that participate in the financial dealings between gambling participants.

I honestly,am not going to go to the trouble of extra hardware and expense just to play in games that conflict time-wise! :pcguru: I'm not that big a player.

But I can understand why people that do play a lot more might want to, it's obviously an increase in potential profits.:)

I guess my point was originally that if you signed up to all the ones that keep opening, you would end up spreading yourself and your funds that thinly, that you would end up losing in the long run.

I think I'm getting ready to draw the line at adding more and maybe even remove a few that I don't play frequently.

There is nothing wrong with plenty of choice.

I am currently signed up to 12 poker sites.

I just tried them all to see which was the best.

IMO Full Tilt is the best.

Having so many gives you alot of freeroll opportunities and you can get a free bankroll on some others.

Seeing as I have just changed to the MAC computer, and play mostly for enjoyment and low stakes, I like the fact that only a few sites provide a downloadable version of their software. I won't use a virtual machine or any emulator (after all I switched to eliminate the problems I have encountered with Windows based PC's - personally I think Windows sucks.) I am now in the process of closing out my accounts on 4 PC sites (including 2 that have a MAC web version which keep crapping out) and lo and behold, I am having problems with all 4 with regard to withdrawing my funds.

As a result I would recommend that anyone opening an account on any site check out the withdrawal process thoroughly beforehand. Each of the sites I am having problems with have different rules (some that you find out only when you try to cash out). They make it easy to deposit or build an account from freerolls, but withdrawing funds is another story. Also check out their fund transfer requirements.

Once I finish with these problems, I will be perfectly happy to play on FullTilt and Pokerstars - 2 of the most respected sites where forums obtain private tournaments. I can add that I have withdrawn funds from FullTilt and also transferred funds on these sites without any problems.
