I'm not really sure what made me think of this, but does anyone have a good enough understanding of how FTP generated? And if so, how many FTP do you think Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius generate in a month? How many Mini Coopers could they buy?

Not sure but if I had to guess they implemented it because of pokerstars having FPP's. As far as Dwan and Antonious I'm sure they are in the millions, my buddy plays on there and has like 30,000 and he just plays .50-1 and 24 S-n-G's.

In short, it's the high volume grinders (multi-tables who play all day) who make a lot of FPP's, not the big names.

Keep in mind that while Durrr and Patrik play the high limit games, rake peaks at $3 per hand. So, a $60 pot will have a $3 rake, and a $10,000 pot will have a $3 rake. So you're getting the same 3 FTP's for a $60 hand as you will for a $10,000 hand.

Points Explained:
Start earning Full Tilt Points by playing in any qualifying raked real-money hand in a ring game or a real-money Multi-Table Tournament or Sit & Go with a tournament fee:
  • Ring Games: For each dollar raked from a pot, every player who was dealt cards for that hand will receive 1 Full Tilt Point. For example, if $2.00 in rake is taken from a pot, each player who was dealt cards will receive 2 points. Fractional points are also awarded; if $2.25 in rake is taken, players will receive 2.25 points. A maximum of 3 points can be earned per hand.
  • Tournaments: For every dollar paid in Multi-Table Tournament or Sit & Go fees, you'll receive 7 Full Tilt Points. There is no limit to the number of points you can earn per tournament. For example, if you play in a tournament with a $10 buy-in and a $1 tournament fee, you'll receive 7 points; if you play in a tournament with a $200 buy-in and a $16 tournament fee, you'll receive 112 points.

Thanks for the information. I have always wondered how the points were distributed, if they were based on hand winnings or time you sat in the seat?

Now it is clarified. No wonder sitting in the one two cent tables take soo freaking long to earn points. The more money the more points. No wonder I was making so many points playing the .30 sngs during the happy hours. LoL. Nice. I always use my points for other tournaments they have on FTP....

I especially like the 50 FTP $26 token frenzy. Those are a blast, but people hold on to DEAR DEAR life...and lasts forever. I will get a token one day baby. one day one time!

LOL... Mini Cooper's

That's a good question bro... I never thought of that with people playing high stakes like Phil Ivey and Ziugmend (just saw a high stakes replay on UTube of them playing on FT) and yeah they must generate a huge amount of FTP points playing $10k bets at a time...

Wow... I really have never thought of this... I guess they are more than likely not allowed to use their FTP points since they are already sponsored?

But yeah... you could rack up hella FTP points each week with a $100,000 BR... and Mini Cooper after Mini Cooper... LOL.

Be interesting to find out and know,

No, as SP pointed out, once you reach 2/4 nl or so you're already maxing out the rake. It's about grinding, not stakes played. Some pros probably make less than 5k points per month sometimes I bet.

Something else to consider. If you have rakeback and use your points it is deducted from your rakeback, and I would also assume that sponsored players like Patrik do not pay rake (or get 100% rakeback).

So it would seem to me that with such a deal in place, their points would be worthless (or non existent).

Yeah, FT's 3 FTP cap per hand kinda makes playing stakes not worth it if you wanna clear FTPs.

Also HU goes faster, sure rake is capped at $1 or $0.50 (depends on site), but you play a lot more hands. And limit poker goes much faster 2.
