How it is worth waiting in line for the fishy table?

I understand the reason for wanting to get on a table that has a few fish, but what I don't understand is a 5+ waiting list to get on that table.

By the time you get there you'll be sitting with the guys that were on the waiting list and not the fish..

So could one of you bum hunters explain this to me? lol.:D

Depends on the limit. At the higher limits, there really aren't enough fish to go around, so they take their chances.

I've always wondered about this too. By the time you get on you're a) (as you say) playing with all the other queuing sharks and b) the fish who were causing the high seen-flop % have often busted out by then. I understand that table selection is important but it seems to me that getting a fishy table without long queues is often more a case of luck than careful table selection.

I also look at this and also the pot size. If you're trying to clear bonuses pot size equals poker points and clearing a bonus. Even with one or two players ahead of you, the table seems to completely change.

I think that in real small stakes it is usually not worth much to wait for a long time on a high action game. Because players dont stay long and by the time you get your seat the players that were there before are gone. I have put my name on a list when the pot size was 3 times the others and when the seat finally opened the average pot had gone down considerably.

I feel that if there is any more than a 3 person line for a table it's not going to be worth it anyways, for those reasons... the fish either leave or get busted and the other people in line before you could change the game up completely

another idea may be to open up loads of tables and sit at them, but in 'sit-out' status, that way you can watch play / stats and choose the best few tables and close the rest.

You are right. I usually filter my table scanner to display only tables with 0 or 1 people in the waiting list. 0 to 2 for full ring tables.

The best way to table select is to start tables yourself, actually. Provided you don't suck shorthanded. Fishes will just come and sit with you voluntarily. Unfortunately that's only an option at the times of the day when the number of players is increasing. Otherwise it's nearly impossible to do it.
