I'm half posting this just to see if I can sucessfully upload a screenshot, and half because i'm fairly pleased with the results. I only came in 4th place (AQ lost to KQ, no comment necessary) but it was probably one of the best tournaments i ever played, never struggling to survive, but controlling the pace, playing solid position poker. now let's see if this works.

wow! 5 and a half hours... never played a tourney longer than 3 hours. And that's forever to me. Great job on your finish nate! 72.22 for 1.10; that's just awesome!

i play a lot of the low buys ins at pokerstars, mainly because they are cheap, and you can make a nice profit if you do make the final table, as there are so many people in them. Amazingly it didn't seem like it took five hours. it started at about 10:00 here, and before i knew it it was midnight, then three in the morning. i consider myself a tournament player, so i've kind of gotten used to dedicating that much time to events. for once i wasn't multi-tableing, and i think that helped a lot. i was pretty into it.

as far as how many hands i folded, here are my stats, as recorded by pokerstars:

372 hands played and saw flop:
- 15 times out of 53 while in small blind (28%)
- 22 times out of 50 while in big blind (44%)
- 32 times out of 269 in other positions (11%)
- a total of 69 times out of 372 (18%)

Pots won at showdown - 10 out of 14 (71%)
Pots won without showdown - 50

so yeah, folded over 300, over 80% of the time preflop. kind of hard to believe really. I trippled up with AA on the second hand, and managed to stay around the average for most of the time. I didn't lose a showdown until it was down to two tables. it was nice having a respectable stack for once so i could play position poker and steal blinds and antes. usually, while i've gotten pretty good at making the money, i'm always just hanging on and forced to push all my chips in whenever i play a pot during the later stages, relying on good fortune to stay alive, which is not the way i like to play.

part of me is still a little annoyed that i didn't win, or at least make the top two, as i felt i was as good as any of the other players at the final table, but it was a nice payday, so i'm happy, and this will keep me in $1-$3 buy ins (which is what i usually play) for quite some time. :)

gg, i admire your patience. I suck at big MTTs because I just end up getting impatient/distracted after a couple of hours and doing stupid stuff, something I need to work on.

didn't even notice that. actually, it was 50 wins w/ no showdown, and 10 with (i think that's how that works), so that makes 60/69 hand won/flops seen. either way it almost doesn't seem like it's possible, but the more i think about it, i guess i believe it. like i said it was a good tournie. :)

Good job nateofdeath! Have to take lessons from you! I like to play the low money tables and do pretty good at them. The money adds up after a bit and I think sometimes it's less pressure and odds are better. Maybe I'll see you sometime.

How I spent my Saturday night...

In case anyone's wondering, i didn't spend another 5 hour session at pokerstars tonight. can't handle those every night. i spent my Saturday night, laying on the couch, eating cookies. I couldn't get away from poker all together, though, watched an old WPT event on the Travel channel.

please, call me nate. nateofdeath is just something i use to scare the fish:)

and you probably shouldn't start taking lessons from me. i play enough of those things i was bound to do well in one eventually. One tip i'll offer, as Dorkus said something about not being patient enough. i get impatient too, and sometimes want to make a big bet just to get something going. One thing I do to keep me on task and keep me making smart plays is to imagine that everyone at the table is a friend of mine, or someone I know, who'll give me crap about it if i make a dumb play. i mean, i've gotten to the point where i almost feel embarased when i make a dumb play at the table, even though i'll plabably never play with any of them again. probably weird, but it works for me.
