Hero Poker (established 23 January 2011) is a poker lifestyle marketing brand that originally launched on the Merge Gaming Network. In December 2012, Hero Poker left the Merge Gaming Network and has stated a relaunch on a new network for June 2013.

Players were cashed out or transfered to other merge accounts. To my knowledge no one was left out of pocket. If you are owed money, you can try emailing them, the CEO still responds to the heropoker email address, I believe.

Wow, Merge actually asked me to send a copy of my passport or driver's license to confirm my identity in order to access my funds. Extremely unprofessional (AND dangerous).

That's a shame that people decided to go along with that standard. Full name, date of birth, and driver's license #. Those three things in combination, should they fall into the wrong hands (i.e. the email gets intercepted), can really wreak havoc for someone.

I strongly recommend anyone doing this black out their DL# and date of birth. If all they really need is a photographic ID (which makes no sense over the net, because it's not a face-to-face transaction), that should be sufficient.

Do you need a tinfoil hat???
Date of birth is needed to show that you are 18+ to be playing, driver's license is also needed so they can transfer the funds to the right account! Aka it has your mailing address on it, date of birth, and full name.
Any Data that does not match, or that you will not give them, they will lock the account.

For withdrawing you have to send them the info anyway!

Not Confirming your identity is unprofessional:p

think about, if someone contact merge and say that your bankroll is his/hers.

and merge pays out. That is big disaster , paying out money without security confirmation!

it is pretty normal that u need to make sure that the account is yours!, I think a photo ID will be fine.

I think merge have terms to protect privacy and identity security!:D:D:D:D

Good luck
