finally thank you so much for this thread!!!!

playing is and will always be the #1 best tool for learning how to play, poker forums in general will be great assets to any player trying to get better. This on in particular is raved about on all the major online tracking sites. Wickedchops even has a link and they are known as one of the better reporting sites so you are in good company here.

there is no one way to improve your game but tracking all your play is very good, thinks like pokertracker where you can go over your hands and figure out where you are messing up and trying to plug holes. Poker ace hud well that is great but It wont improve your play it just gives you good info on other players so put in a tough spot you have something to reference. Read everything you can get your hands on and just sit back and absorb everything that someone wants to teach you. visit the HA section alot and post hands you are not sure about.

im currently uploading a live session of me playing 2 tables of 100max. i try to say just about everything that goes through my head during it, so you get a good idea of the things you need to pay attention to while playing. (according to me, anyway)

Thanks guys! im looking forward to it!

I have read a couple threads on reading poker books, is that a good idea? Im thinking about going to my local bookstore and pick some up, so when I go on vacation in a week I have something to read.

I would read many different types of poker books but not take everything they say as gospel. You should try to become a poker hybrid from the books you read. Employing the different theories in different situations where relevant. Although knowing where to do that comes down to experience and nothing will teach you that better than losing your hard earned cash...

A good book to start out with would be Super System by Doyle Brunson, it will help to explain why you might be taking all those badbeats and give you an idea as to the long term key for making money in cash games.

I would just give you some golden rules on how to turn a profit and this game...

1. Read books about different styles and become a hybrid of them. Contrary to what 95% of people will tell you [most of which make little to none in this game] a tight aggressive style is not the best way to make money in this game - its just a slower way of losing money. You ultimately need to mix up your play alot to stand any chance of beating the sickness.

2. Know when to fold. If it looks pretty but the other guy is being aggressive. Maybe it isn't pretty enough.

3. Dont ever, ever bet into a bad player if you dont want a call.

Sounds good mate, I will definately check it out. Is this a card runners type video? I was thinking of doing something similar myself but wouldn't know how to go about it...

The best thing is to play and not give up. It's easy to give up. It's not easy for alot of people, but if you study (really study,) and play alot you should become a good player. Play within your bankroll, and start out in small stakes because you will lose your money. That's your tuition. It's gonna happen. Make a small deposit, play, study, absorb things, and prepared to lose your money and feel good about it. Reload, study, play, rinse repeat....

Just don't give up and then when you begin to get it continue to study. Don't ever stop reading or get complacent.

Play a lot. Take good notes of your players, since that will be helpful for future play. Take your time and think things out before making decisions. Read a variety of books. Learn to competently play a variety of games. Don't be afraid to have others analyze your play, and give you different perspectives on the same hand.

All those should help you out.

Play a ton of hands and discuss strategy with knowledgeable people (you'll find them here). Also read books.

Good Thread,, books are good but to become successfull you have to play alot, wheather it be real or online, the key is experiance, the more you play the more you learn,, but dont play so much that you burn yourself out,,, and the Big thing in MTT`s is PATIENCE,, Also theres lots of stuff to read here at Cardschat, the members here have written loads of great posts so read them and it will help your game,, gl>>>>>>>>buck
