I'm not sure about pokerstars, but on Paradise, you start out w/ 1500 chips in re-buy tourneys. If you have 1500 or less, you can re-buy at anytime. Some sites you have to bust out first. But it souds like PS may follow the same guidelines as Paradise. Maybe you were over the allowed limit? :dontknow:

We all had the same amount of starting chips, but several hundred people did rebuys before the tournament started. I didn't see a rebuy button anywhere.
When I did rebuy after busting out, I got 1,500 chips. Now I see people busting out and rebuying 3,000 chips. WTH??

usually it's just if you bust out, you pay X dollars and get your starting chip amount back
rebuying before the tournament starts doesn't really make sense; what if you don't bust before the break?
i don't see the point of it and as for rebuying with 3000 chips im just lost as to why that happens
