I being a internet player have notice software is different from site to site. Is this true or just a coincedence. For some reason when i play Ultimate Bet a flush would come more or there being more suck outs than lets say poker stars. Is this just me or can they write the software different from site to site?

The software only really differs in aesthetics, button placement, and sometimes the random number generators. All of the bigger sites like Full Tilt, pokerstars, Ultimatebet, bodog, etc use pretty solid random number generators. The things you notice are likely only due to a small sample size of hands seen. For example, I just freed up my Full Tilt account, and had quads about 5 times. I don't think they're more likely to come as much as they just happened to come a lot in the short term. I'm sure 200k hands later I won't be getting a lot of quads as compared to other hands.

I've played on UB for a long time, quit a few years ago. My girlfriend plays there now. I can tell you flushes don't come more on there than any other site from our collective experience. I hope this helps.

Cards are truly random everywhere...but poker software types are:

1. Full Tilt - Highest stakes online cash games are there, because it's the best!

2. PokerStars - good options and graphics, but a little slower than Full Tilt

3. The rest are ugly, slow or slow & ugly

Pokerstars is one of the only sites that does not use a constant shuffle when dealing the cards.

Not sure who else does not use a constant shuffle..pstars may be the only one

odds are that you're seeing all kinds of weird hands hitting because of the ridiculously weird hands that some players choose to play (you know... like MrFlushMaster, the guy who limps in from EP w J6s and can't fold to a 4x raise).

the sites now are generally well documented about their random number generators...pokerstars especially has a good description about gathering random data for their shuffle, i think it's interesting they use user input such as mouse movements

Actually there is a huge difference between sites.

This info is very valuable so I'll ask that it not leave this thread.

Stars - Chase straights. Any straight. Gut-shot, open-ender, double belly-buster, doesn't matter you'll get there on Stars

FTP - It's all about the flushes on FTP. It been proven statistically that people who play any 2 suited cards on FTP have the highest win rates. The site is especially known for it's propensity for runner-runner backdoor flushes, so don't give up on the flop.

UB/AP - The Cereus Network favors neither flushes nor straights but gives both out in equally high numbers and they are especially fond of "set-up" hands where one person has a set and the other hits his flush or straight on the river. It's always on the damn river. So if you're on UB with a set and the most weird backdoor draw gets there if your opponent bets fold, even to a min bet because no matter how good the price is you can't beat the UB river.

Those are the only sites I play (free rolls mostly) so I don't know about the rest. I do have a friend who plays on iPoker and he says they love the set. He swears that he will raise 22 all the way because he knows he'll have a set by the river. But I don't know how big his sample is so you might want to test that one first.

Well armed with this new information you should be good to go. I'd wish you luck but with the above, you won't need it.

PM me if you want my Stars screen name to send a little cash my way.

Lol @ post right above mine. And to anyone out there who doesn't know...hes obviously kidding. All the sites out there use the same (or basically the same) random number generator. You just see flushes and straights and such so often, because online poker is waaaaay faster than a home game. I can play a couple hundred hands an hour at home, whereas when I'm playing with my buddies its probably only 40ish an hour. Thats a big difference. More hands = more time to see weird stuff.

My main query is what are the 'fastest' softwares? Besides Fulltilt - which is the fastest I have encountered.

The speed rly does have an impact on how many hands you see per hour on ring games etc. So which are the 2nd and 3rd in terms of speed/hands/hr?
