We are opening in Fall 2012 and should be announcing the actual date soon. We will open with cash games and 30 tables, but we will definitely offer tournaments once we are open for a bit. We are looking forward to the opening as well. It will be here before we know it!

Best,
Matt

Former penn dealer and springfield ohio resident

I hope you can help me out. I was living in sprinfield ohio where I went into business with family to open a bar/poolroom. There wasn't much money in that and a lot of creative differences amung the family so I began workin at Hollywood Lawrenceburg as a poker dealer. I would still be there looking for a transfer to Columbus but the 3 hr. round trip was killing me so I had an opurtunity in Florida and being thats where I'm from I took it...one poker room later and now I'm driving a 4 hr round trip.. I still have a bar/pool room in ohio and is 100% in my name and I still have my Ohio id if that helps....Basically I'm just asking for a chance. I recieved an email saying auditions where coming but when I looked into the website I was declined for the poker and still being reviewed for table games...I haven't deat table games in 6 years and am all about poker dealing and playing.. I was even hoping to become a dual rate but now I'm pleading my case just for an audition or phone interview on a message board..Im just looking for the opurtunity to be on the ground floor of what I think will be a great poker room and to move my family back up north...anyway hopefully you can rereveiw (if thats a word) my resume and give me an opurtunity...thank you for your time...Justin Jenkins

Experienced dealer panel interviews and auditions will be held July 30th - Aug 4th and you will need to pass the panel interview in order to receive an audition. Both will happen on the same day and if you went through our online application you will receive an email or phone invitation if your qualifications meet our needs. Best of luck to you!

Hollywood opened in Kansas City last February 3rd. Poker Room Manager figured they would start having tourney's in April - still no tourney's. You know why? Because it continually fills up for cash games. High action room in this town that has really put a dent in Harrah's and Ameristar and forced them into changing their poker room operation with particular emphasis on tourney play.

Remember, casinos don't make much on tourney's - it's really more like a gimmick to get you in so if they don't have to do tourney's to fill seats, then they probably won't. It's a great problem for them to have.

BTW it is not at all unusual here for a guy to finish a tourney at Harrah's and then drive across town to Hollywood to play cash. Hollywood is a class operation - at least here it is.

May you have these problems Matt :) But with 30 tables - I can see tourney's in your future ;) (only 12 in KC - boy did they miscalculate this town)

We will have both time rake and % rake games; depending on the type. We will have a BBJ. No final decision on rake amounts, time collection amounts, or BBJ qualifiers have been finalized (just to pre-answer what I'm guessing might be the next question). :)

At Hollywood Indiana, it s $5 max rake, $1 for the BBJ, but they do rake even without a flop. They also use 50 cent chips to maximize rake.. main issue with this is it slows the game down with most dealers. No games are timed rake here.

Was just wondering because when they (Hollywood) open in Charlestown. WV it was timed rake ($6 / 30 minutes) and then went to % ($5 max + $1 for BBJ).

Thank you so much for responding quickly....I hope to receive an invite and believe my qualifications make me a fantastic candidate for a full time dealer/dual rate..This is where I,ve want to work for a long time to come...I left Lawrenceburg on great terms with a letter of recomendation from the former manager T.K.... just in case I slip through the cracks during the application progress I figure I'd let you know that. I wish you the best on the new room and good luck on your new endevour. This must be a very exciting time for you.The greater Columbus area is a fantastic spot for a room. ...thanks again any help you could send my way would be greatly apreciated.....Jutin Jenkins

Poker Dealer as a career

Hi Matt!
I would like to learn more about how to become a dealer at Hollywood Casino. Training, state requirements, licensing, cost of schooling, realistic income potential for a fulltime dealer....oh, I know NOTHING about playing cards. :D
I've already interviewed-American Idol style. I must have "wowed" Simon because I'm still in the game. ;) Any advise appreciated...
Many Thanks!

How about a more professional approach that doesn't include sarcasm. I hire dozens every year all over the world and this would have me running the other way.

We have already completed all training of new poker dealers for the casino opening and those that were trained are now in "practice-mode" until October 8th when we open. We will offer interviews and auditions to experienced dealers next week, July 30 - August 4. That process begins with filling out our online application.

State licensing information can be found at the Ohio Casino Control Commission website. Keep your eye out for the potential of additional training classes after we open. In terms of earning potential, it can vary widely since these are tipped positions and income is based largely upon skill, speed, and personality.

Best,
Matt

Hi Matt,

What type of seating structure do you plan on? 10 handed or 9 handed?

The room looks great!

NLHE will all be % Rake. The only games we're planning on a time rake are PLO. Also, we will have a "no flop, no drop" policy. Look forward to seeing you here.

Matt

Buy-In min/max

I have a question. I was wondering if you have discussed the min/max buy-in amounts. I was hoping that this casino will allow for deep stack buy-in's. Example the Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg IN. Has there's set at $1-3 Min $100/ Max$500. Also the $2-5 Min $200/ Max $1000. Many poker rooms have started this trend. I was seeing if you will be one of them? Thanks -Steve

Where can I find details on Hollywood's rewards program. And will there be rewards for time played in the Poker Room?

On the curiosity side, why is PLO a time rake? Not enough hands dealt?
