Wondering if anyone experienced playing against fish and generally bad players on pokerstars than any other site?

Never mind the nominal amount. Strictly speaking ratio of fish to the entire site’s player base.

PokerStars used to be one of the toughest sites for cash game players (between 2005-2015).

Since the volume of the softer sites (besides Asia) has gone down every year maybe that is no longer true.

Not much traffic on the European sites that used to be super soft.

Due to the volume some tournaments (MTTs) are pretty soft.

I typically play cash games, recently switched to Party from PS and I am having a hard time adjusting to 6-max cash game.

I seem to be crushed more often than I was on PS, maybe just bad luck.

It is hard to say without a big sample of hands.

But PokerStars have gotten a lot of players from South America (mostly brazil) lately. On lower levels (under 25NlL) maybe PokerStars is softer than Party again due to a bigger player pool. It is also easier to Table Select and choose a good table at PokerStars.

I think 888poker is the softest site for almost all kinds of poker that I have tried.

If you play micro- or small stakes you also should check how much rake you have to pay on different sites. That can take a lot of money out of the pots you win.

I moved from PokerStars to 888 five month ago, and have only been back on Stars a few times since then. But my impression is, that the case games definitely became softer on Stars, after they introduced their 4 table cap a few month ago.

It kind of makes sense, that the table cap might have induced some grinders to take their activity elsewhere, and that cash games on competing sites might now therefore actually be tougher. Which is certainly a turnaround from, how it was for many years.

As for 888 I think, it’s a bit of a myth, that the games there are so incredibly soft. In the early European morning hours, where only few tables are running, they can be pretty juicy. But that is also the case on Stars. And if I log on to 888 after work, there are many tables running, but most of them have low players per flop numbers, so its not like, they are full of huge fish.

Thanks for the reply. That’s interesting tho, I had not considered the times that I was playing.

I seemed to have a better per hour amount playing later in the day (eastern time) on stars. But get spanked earlier in the day on partypoker.

I’m yet to play 888 and may try if I score enough to split my BR

Good point about the new table limit - forgot about that.

Even if some really serious players can continue to play the four best tables on PokerStars and the rest on some other client (or on zoom tables?) it becomes more of a "hassle" and if they get cash-back, points or bonuses on other sites they maybe play exclusively on that site instead of PokerStars.

I don't have a lot of volume on 888 lately since I'm almost retired from playing for more than fun on low stakes a few hours to relax. But 888poker when it come to other games (like PLO and limit-games used to be super soft - and still is. But very few tables/games). I think there is more crazy players in the MTTs as well.

A little off topic: but when I started to play seriously online (ca 2005) I only played ONE table of 5/10 dollar Limit Holdem on pacific poker (I think predecessor to 888). That was enough to earn several hundred dollars a month due to the VERY bad players. Today you can hardly find limit tables over nano-stake. Beginner level used to be 1-2 Limit and 25NL. It has surely changed for the worse.
