I've been wondering the same thing myself. FTP struggles to have more than 10k-15k players on a regular basis, compared to Stars easily having over 100k regularly.

Mid day eastern standard time seems to be a highpoint. You'd see Canadians and South Americans on there. The Europeans and Asians it's later in the evening for them, that seems to be best.

Here's a chart of their peak hours and the number of players for the past couple weeks.

This can't be for FTP, its minimum that i see is greater than these numbers, and I see it go up to the 15k mark at least on saturday and sunday? This chart must be for another site.

It does not include tournament players.

I feel the pain on this too, played a little over there last night running sessions of 8 50c, sng's. The first set got started up pretty good around 6:30PM ET, a second set at 8:00PM ET took way longer than i wanted for them all to get going, felt like i was only playing maybe 3 or 4 at a time (somewhat due to a crazy bad run over the entire evening to be honest).
Tried another set around 10PM, and they were just not going to get going, so ran a set of 8 on pstars (unfortunatly the smallest being 1.5$) as they get off the ground much quicker there due to pretty much 10x the volume of players.

Needless to say had a similarly horrible night on stars in that session, only managed a 3rd out of 8 sng's. Was very frustrating, took a number of beats in three 4 handed tables to knock me down and shortly later out when i had no choice but to push.

That was it, 3 bad sessions and down significantly i packed it in for the night. Hopefully as the weekend is approaching, as usually does, the traffic will be better on ftp to grind out the 50c or even 1$ and gain back some recent losses.

Edit: I have wanted to play the 45's on ftp but rarly see the micro's get anyone at all in them so don't bother to even check anymore, maybe the weekends will have better chances.

As a regular patron of FTP, this makes me sad. I play low stakes sngs and the traffic is worse than the micro. Sometimes I have to cancel the whole session because the wait is too long and I run out of time waiting. 15 minutes and it's still 1/9. It's hard to get multitable and I don't care if I play against the same regs over and over again anymore as long as I get my set running. I might just move down a limit and move my roll to PS, but I like FTP a lot. It seems harder to make money and points there and I'd have to give up my status at FTP as well, but I guess it is an inevitable shift as we progresses.
Anyhow, I'd try to make notes of the traffic and I'd try to report it back here.

I was perusing on there last night, think it was closing in on like 12:30AM ET and noticed only about 8kish people online, and saw a freeroll being registerred for by almost 4k. Thinking maybe a lot of traffic on there could be just running on the freerolls perhaps, and the one's who make something already have a bit of a br and this is padding it or they probably blow it in a cash table as you would figure if there were people with no money winning the freerolls and trying to follow proper BRM we would probably see a few more of them on the low to micro stake SNG.

Just a thought, I didn't play at all on there last night just ran a few freerolls and was 21 out from cash in the horse freeroll, didn't get anywhere near close to the money in others on there (did get ITM on a titan and 888 freeroll however).

I think eventually traffic might improve on FTP, at least I'm hoping. I like some of the functionality they have which pokerstars does not. Specifically the fact that you can register for your SNG's to multi very easy with a few checkbox clicks and a new empty one becomes available as soon as there are people sitting at the others (i love that).
