I really enjoyed playing at hero guess its time to get my account going on Carbon again.

Cry.

Dear Players,

HeroPoker will be going offline on the Merge Poker network this evening, Dec 20th, 2012. Your player funds are secure with the Merge Gaming network. While your player balances will be transferred to a new partner site, your VIP points and tournament tickets may not be as it is still a point of contention. We would highly recommend that you enter into the client now and exchange your existing VIP points to cash, insofar as much as you can.
Hero Poker will be relaunching on a new network for early 2013, but it was decided that this was the best course of action for existing players to enjoy the full tournament MTT guarantees and more payment processing options.
Sincerely
David, Hero Poker CEO

Hero Poker Closes Poker Room on Merge
Players funds are safe and all VIP points and tournament tickets will be honored.
It was announced today that Hero Poker will be closing its room on the Merge Network effective today.

David Jung, CEO of Hero Poker revealed in a post on 2+2 that Hero players will be transferred to one of the “preferred Merge partners.”

However, unlike the closure of other recent Merge skins, all “VIP point balances and tournament tickets will be [transferred]” to players’ new accounts.

The closure of the room on the Merge Network does not spell the end of Hero Poker. Jung commented: “I expect to do a full update within the next couple of days on where Hero is going, but for the moment, I’d like to focus on ensuring that our existing players are able to transition properly.”

Jung, well regarded among many in the poker community for his dedication to customer service, provided the following perspective as to the motivation behind the closure:

Simply put, Hero and Merge weren't going the same direction any longer and it just didn’t make sense on both sides to continue, sometimes in business and most times in life, things work out like this, but again, the priority has been the players and in this respect, Merge has put the players first in this transition process as well, so I’m thankful for that.

Hero is the latest in a growing number of skins that have halted operations on the Merge Network following the resignation of its CEO Anthony Taylor In September. Bluff Room and FeltStars both closed their doors in October prior to the announcement that Merge was eliminating all player-to-player transfers and moving many of its skins to the Jazette Cashier.

In November a group of Merge skins pulled out of the Poker Maximus III tournament series at the last minute. Skins that did not participate in the series included RPM, Hero Poker and Black Chip Poker. Black Chip later left Merge and moved its players to the Winning Poker Network.

Last week, PDC Poker—a Merge skin owned by Carbon Poker—shuttered its doors and migrated its players to Aced Poker, also on the Merge Network and also owned by Carbon.

Just days ago RPM announced that it was halting operations on the network as well.

merge seems to be losing skins at a rapid pace. are there any skins left that are any good for US players?

I am not surprised, but is a shame merge does not recognize that some players like the smaller skins, they get more service ther

well here we are 6 years later and holder and obamas justice dept are like sharks eating chum, confiscating funds and closing down whomever still accepts u.s. players.
i am so sick and tired of the holy then thou politicians on both sides of the isle. many casino owners and indian casinos are to blame too because they didnt want the competition.

Well, it's down now - I get the "Hero Poker will no longer be operating" message when I try to open the client. I am concerned about the MTT tickets, because Dave corrected himself after his first post, saying that Merge reversed the decision, and that he could no longer guarantee that they will transfer. I had several $11 tickets that I had planned to use on Poker Maximus, then hero wasn't doing PMIII, so they had just been sitting in the account waiting for another good opportunity. If they were won on merge tournaments, seems like Merge should still honor them. They weren't won in the hero-specific tournaments. Hmmmm.

I agree with everyone else - so sick of this, so sick of the politicians making things harder for US players to play on a stable high-traffic site.

The fact that they closed so quickly just pisses me off. I had no chance to convert VIP's (if they are indeed gone).

Just one more reason why I refuse to deposit real money on any site. Although I was able to build a $12 bankroll out of the freerolls and micros at Hero.

If you want to stay on Merge then it's pretty obvious you need to stay with the Carbon or Sportsbook.com (Play Aces?) skins. Carbon and Sportsbook have well-established, long-time partnerships or ownership interests in Merge and aren't going anywhere as long as the network is still around. It's been reported -- and seems obvious -- that Merge's goal is to consolidate the network down to just these partner skins. So I would consider any other skins to be vulnerable.

Is sad about Hero poker, and he did have really good customer support too. IF the only 2 other networks he can move to is Winning and Revolution, not much of a choice between those 2, but i hope he goes to WINNING network.Unless he moves to one where usa players cant even play at all. Hope not though.

If i do recover them i guess I can wish in one hand and @#$@ in the other when it comes to my points and tourney coupons

Has anyone who had funds on Hero and requested their funds transferred actually got them moved yet? I know when feltstars closed, it only took hrs but this one seems like days will be the norm. I have a feeling that we may take it in the shorts on this move due to Hero only games with VIP's to earn to clear funds.

The transfer still isn't showing for me. I had several cashes from the hero only tournaments, and still needed to clear some of them with the vip points.
