Hi everyone,

Here's my problem...

I'm a US player and I have been away from online poker for about 6 years. I have missed it and decided that I would like to play again a little bit. Nothing too serious, just a few small $20 tourneys or some cheap cash games.

I used to play pokerstars and never had a problem. Now I see that many of the large sites have been shutdown for US players.

So my questions are:

What sites (if any) can be trusted for US players? How should I deposit money? Are there any other things that US players should be aware of when gaming online?

Mostly I'm just looking for some safe fun. I don't want to see my bank account drained because I choose a bad site to deposit $40.00.

Thanks for any advice!

Hey there!

I would personally go with any Merge site... Carbon Poker is usually the choice of many. They no longer offer rakeback, but their VIP point system gives you virtually the same kickbacks. I HIGHLY recommend Carbon Poker for playability, selection, and so on.

Some people go with BetOnline, but I have had HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience with them... Their laggy servers... for instance I was slow playing at hand one time deep in a tourney and it cut out on me on the turn... I had to close the software and reopen it.. once back in I was sitting out and I had auto folded that hand... Now this has not happened just once... but most EVERY time I get on there I have some crap like this happen. And you have to manually close and reopen the software for it to work again... I HATE BETONLINE AND REGRET EVER PUTTING A DIME IN THERE... Plus their cashout fee schedule is ridiculous.

I would go with any Merge Gaming site... preferably Carbon or Hero Poker.

Just my two cents.
Moe.

P.S. Credit cards deposit on Merge all the time... I have never had a problem using Wells Fargo cards AND PREPAID cards! Oh... and I know the problem is not with my internet connection with the BetOnline as I have never had a drop package with this Cox Cable. The problem is with the crap software / their servers.
