Do you keep track of how many BB's your stack is?
1) Don't chase cards. That's how everyone else makes their money/takes the lead.
2) Don't feel pressured to double up. If you start getting low, take stands preflop with good starting hands, and hope to take down the blinds. Unless you have some hungry big stacks at the table everyone else will be tightening up and less likely to risk losing a large chunk with a moderate hand.
The best lesson I learned is don't feel pressured by the blinds, but be aware of them, and use it to your advantage. Pay attention to people who are tight and pick on them, and run if they call and you dont flop big
