we have all lost with the 2nd best hand and most of the time we know where bad, so why do we keep calln. Im not talkin ace wh weak kicker here, most have learned these leasons 2nd day of playin. Today i lost about 60 on ace ace . let me explain... i raised early position 8 x the big bln. 2 callers flop 7 7 9 , 2 spades and i do have a spade. the boards paird so im aready wondering if im dead. i raise pot size bet, loose 1 and 1 smooth call. CAN ANYONE SEE WHERE THIS IS GOING. shortn this thread 2 more spades latter ,in early position I raise wh huge reraise . I have the nut flush with a paired board . I dont like it but feel i have to call. if hes as bad as i hope i will win amassive pot. but i call to see freakin 7 9 diamonds. my question isnt if i play correct but how can i learn to lay this and others down with out becomin a weak player.

I'll put it bluntly, you shouldn't lay this down. Especially with 4 to a flush on the board, if someone has the K (and possibly the Q or J) they play pretty much the same way. You can kind of take the possibility of trips away because they would be raising afraid of the flush draw, and when the fourth spade came they wouldn't have re-raised. So you figure they have one of 3 hands: a good flush, the boat that he had, or quads. Quads and boat fit in the same category, but are both very very very rare. You didn't post bet sizes but I'm assuming you were getting decent odds and you have the nut flush. No way you can fold. Just know that in the other position, you double up or stack your opponent too.

Yeh there is defo no way you can get away from this, and to your credit putting him on 97 after a PF raise of 8x (MASSIVE!!) which he called (huh?) would be pretty ridiculous - I mean I'd be struggling to call that raise even if i had pocket 7s or 9s. The only hand he could have had at a stretch would be these 2, and of possibly KsQs - so no you don't lay this down, and you come away from the pot hoping you can play with him/her every day for the rest of your life if he's calling 8x the BB with 97.
