Hi, I'm going to Vegas in June for my birthday. YAY! I'd like to play a tourney during the day while I'm there that goes for about 4 hours or so. I'll be with my husband and he doesn't play poker so I don't want to leave him alone for too long. :)Can anyone recommend a good tourney for me to play? I was looking at the PH ones. Does anyone know anything about those? Thanks!

There are several sources to look this up, or ask the poker room once you get there. Flamingo and Harrah's will be a little lower buyin, whereas Caeasers and Venetian will have a little higher buyin (and go a little longer too).

You can easily find $40 (may last a few hours) to several hundred that will last about 10 hours. Any room can tell you what you are looking for typically.

But if you're there in June there's always the wsop ;)

Best of luck!

Thanks everyone. I'm going to be there June 9th and 10th with hubby then I'm probably going to stay for the bar poker open at the Golden Nugget 11-15th June. I'm hoping I will qualify. Wish me luck! :) The WSOP is a little out of my price range unfortunately.

WSOP had daily tournaments for every budget. They're non-bracelet events of course but plenty of players. I played in a $250 one a few years back. Get on Bravo to find all the rooms and tournaments. I know the Orleans had a good looking tournament when I was there. Try Aria and Cesar Palace as well

Hey Dakota, Ah too bad I'm just missing you. Best of luck at the tables! Take it down! GP! (Girl Power) :)
Thanks PKRNRS, I had no idea they had affordable events at the WSOP! Cheers, Amanda

Just noticed the 4 hour thing - none of the good PH tournies or the WSOP Rio dailies will work for you - the WSOP ones last about 15 hours and the PH at least 12.

Honestly if you only have 4 hours I wouldn't bother trying to find a tournament - just not worth it.

If you are hellbent there are some pretty bad ones with very high rake and low buy-ins.

The Flamingo has one with 5 minute blinds that is insane - but would probably be over in 4 hours. Or you could play some limit cash games there - they are fun and pretty harmless - it is really hard to lose much money on those tables.

I recommend The Mirage. They have daily tournaments with a $65 buy-in. The poker room there is very nice - a step up from Harrah's or The Flamingo. The tournaments will finish in about 3 hours - assuming you cash :).

If you only have 4 hours, don't worry about finding the best rake or biggest potential pay-out. Just have fun.

Among those you're writing about, are there some FL* tournaments?

* When I say FL, I don't mean precisely holdem; all limit games are interesting
