I take it this is something new perhaps with the stars 7 version?

I'm sure its just a seperate running application that is required with the new version, probably a type of 3rd party utility that its using to interact with additional servers maybe but thats just a quick off the top guess at this point since I havn't used the new version of stars.

Probably something you could google to find out if its a generic utility maybe, or contact support@pokerstars.com and they may be able to provide specifics or most likely will just state its part of the new stars application.

Also I'm sure if anyone else around the forum has any ideas they will be able to shed some light but don't imagine many people will know exactly its purpose for being part of the new stars App.

Not sure if the vip rep may have any thoughts to provide or if would point you to contact support, this thread:

ooh, is it some useful utility, like an inbuilt tracker or hud?
is it something useless like casino games?

Maybe it is something that will be used in 7, but it is actually already in the current version.

All I can say for sure is that is doesn't appear to do very much, because I stopped the process and pokerstars continued running without any noticeable difference.

I wrote to support pokerstars and got this answer:
"Thank you for your letter.
We can confirm that both gameutil1.exe and gameutil2.exe a legitimate part of the client PokerStars. We would like to point out that they are working in conjunction with the client application. Their purpose is to help in the enforcement of our Terms of Service."

In short did not get intelligible answer, still think it is realted with a new client pokerstarts7....

I think its about as much information as will likely be provided, and it does give insight. It's likely these services that prevent the running of certain software that breaks the terms of using their software. Like running sng wiz for example while also on the pokerstars software is prevented which is what they mean when they say its purpose is to help enforce their TOS.

I would think all that you need to know is the fact that they are both legit parts of the client, so they have provided all they need to IMO.

The TOS reference sounds a bit scary. The utilities are likely doing things like checking geolocation, watching for VPN connections, checking for bots and unallowed HUDS. While a bit intrusive, it should not worry the average player.

I could be wrong...
