I remember back in the day (like 4 years ago) when i could open my laptop, login to pokerstars and play absolutely any game/level/stake i wanted to for however long i wanted to knowing i could cash out within an instant on their adjoining net teller service. I miss those days as do the majority of US players who are forced into playing on one of very few sites that still feels like at any point it could all end.

The point of this thread is to highlight the pros and cons of the current state of online poker sites here in the US and what kind of room do you hope for in the future. I personally would love to see pokerstars back but that seems unlikely without being attached to a brick and mortar casino in NJ or NV in which case you can almost guarantee it wont be the same. Ultimate Poker has seemed to make strides towards the high standard stars and tilt set years ago but yet it remains to be in those two territories.

Nation wide poker sites... what are you hoping for?

Well Pokerstars and the DOJ are rumored to be settling everything by paying a fine. If this happens, count on STARS being back in the USA!

I think 2-3 years there will be 10+ states with legal online poker, and 5 years itll be national.

And I remember how easy it was to profit on Absolute Poker... well, at least before their cheating scandal hehe...

Hoping that we have a national poker freedom across the board in not much time because this helter skelter that we live in now, with the dichotomy across the states, is insanity ;)

i'd like pokerstars for sure. i used to play a lot on full tilt, so that would be cool too but it seems like a lot of players prefer stars so i'd make the switch. right now i'm in NJ so i can play on a few sites like party poker, but with such small player pools (3-400 on average i think) it feels like a shadow of what it was. i'm hoping you're right carl trooper, and its just a few years until online poker is nationwide again, but i'm not sure if it'll be anything close to the same. i can hope though...

I used to love Absolute and Full Tilt. I played on Pokerstars and a few others as well back in the day, but those first two were easily my favorite. However, I feel now all the action and big tourneys are on Pokerstars. If the online floodgates were magically opened right now, I feel like Pokerstars is where I would be headed.

No surprise poker stars is number 1 choice. You know who will be the big dog of the American market if they ever get in. And the citizens of every state has the right to choose where they want to play.

i think pokerstars was the best site of all time. i wish they would settle whatever they have to settle to open to us players.
and if they were to open a sportsbook it would make it unbeatable.

Sad thing is, all we can do is wish for pokerstars to come back. It will be years probably 5-10 and that being said, even if it does, certain states may veto it. It has been going on 3 years and we only have 3 states legalized for online poker, and 2 of them are very liberal and are known for gambling.

Even IF ps returns to usa and we get national/international gaming our gov will be taking as much taxes, fines, fees that it will make online poker less profitable, just like they have done to cigarettes.
how can the land of the free tell us that we cant spend our money however we want?
ok rant over :)
