Really annoying at the moment.
Playing a game on fulltilt is impossible.

OK, so I also have a few forum pages open and the cc freeroll on stars having it's response time slowed down because of ftp locking the cursor.

However FTP is so bad that it hangs for several minutes,
and folds my hands before even showing the cards.

So I just read a post by PO talking about ftp lagging computer [old link~tb]

So I thought I would start this thread and ask if it is a common occurrence that others have experienced?

have to say i was running into a similar issue with ftp a short while back when trying to do some multi-tabling. Granted my connection is slow given being up north but pstars could do the same without any issues.

So decided to tweak some of my settings, removed the avatar's and it certainly seemed to help out the situation. Seems on my connection the extra effort for the avatars was causing me some grief. Perhaps this is something you might want to look at it you have the avatars showing, try not doing so and see if it makes any differences.

Let us know.
Thanks,
bluff

Ive noticed that to, I don't play on tilt anymore though for obvious reasons but yeah when I did I noticed similar things. The lagging was brutal and my computer seemed to get a virus and when I installed in on my girlfriends brand new laptop it happened there also. Something fishy there lol but I will not go near that website ever again. Don't even care if the owners are pokerstars or brand new priests I REFUSE!!!!!! goodluck though

It works fine for me now although quite often when I go to initially open it up it will freeze my computer (sometimes for a full min.).

Many of the other sites I find much worse than FTP (as far as being resource hogs).. ie. ACR

I obviously haven't played on FTP since BF, but when I did I played as many as 16 tables plus ran a tracker/HUD and usually with several tabs open in a web browser, on a much less powerful PC than I have now. I don't recall any lagging, but the software may have changed a lot since PS acquired it.

Yes, I agree. I have quite often such a situation, especially a shame when I see a good map and ... going to fold, because FTP is not responding. I have changed and the Internet service provider and tried to play with the other computer. It looks like the problem should be solved by FullTilt. Play became impossible.

BTW I'd add that internet bandwidth is almost never the cause of online poker lagging, unless you're saturating your bandwidth at the same time with streaming HD video or something. There is very little data actually flowing back and forth to a poker client. Unless you're still on dialup or maybe a satellite ISP with 2s latency, any internet-related poker issues are more likely to be due to connection problems like interference or dropped packets.

yip, satellite up here in my part. oh joyous times to be living in the north, haha.

Gladely as you mention very little data transfer, given the raping of the internet company and data caps up here.

Like PO said when I log into the client it freezes my computer also, mouse is stuck and nothing responds until FTP decides to open. Thought it was just my laptop, but if others seem to be having the same problem obviously it's a client issue

It has changed a fair bit. pre BF it was the fastest site on my puter.

These days (aside from the start-up which pretty much always freezes my computer up for ~45sec. to 1min.) it does seem to put a drain on things. If I know I'm going to be playing any tourneys on FTP I definitely won't open as many sites as I typically do (often I'm playing on 6 diff. sites at same time w/o a problem.. unless one of them is FTP or 888 or ACR). It sucks because I'd definitely be playing on there more often if I wasn't experiencing this.

It actually doesn't do it on my old laptop which is running WinXP... but does on the newer one almost always.

The same here (only when i start Full Tilt), 888 also. All other online poker rooms start and run fast on my Laptop.

. . . , removed the avatar's and it certainly seemed to help out the situation. Seems on my connection the extra effort for the avatars was causing me some grief. Perhaps this is something you might want to look at it you have the avatars showing, try not doing so and see if it makes any differences.

I couldn't find an avatar setting, but I have switched off animation.
Will see how it goes. I think it might help as often the backs of cards were displayed at the top.
So thanks for pointing me in a useful direction.
If there is actually an avatar switch please let me know how to find it.

As PO says there are other greater resource Hogs.
Only pokerstars manages the resources well.
Fulltilt was always significantly behind but second best.
And the others greatly far behind.

For first time I heard that somebody have some problem on fulltiltpoker.
I play on FullTiltPoker for a long time ago, before the BF, and I never had any problem on this room.
Maybe it is something wrong with your internet connection.
If you think that FullTilt are responsible for this problem, than why don't you contact them about this?
Maybe they will give you any solution.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that. Any other tricks to reduce lag?
