I just joined Full Tilt a few days ago (using the CC link) and so far I am not impressed. I really want to like this place so I'm looking for some folks' opinions to help me find the good in this place (I know Jesus L. is a fan).

Here's my likes:
  • Cool avatars with changable emotions
  • Nice table graphics
  • Already have seen a few pros play
  • 100% bonus is cool & moderate to clear so far
  • Other little things like the gear in the store, ease of deposit, etc.
Here's my dislikes:
  • Software is pretty slow compared to UB, PStars, & Titan
  • No turbo SnG's
  • No 6-player SnG's
  • SnG's go dead after 9pm PST/12am EST
  • Too many satellite tourneys & not enough low buy-ins for $$$
  • Ring games seem streaky with a lot of loose catches winning and less premium hands winning
It's still early for me, but the "dislikes" outweigh the "likes" so far. Are my impressions wrong? I hope for some folks to help me see the brighter side of this place. I really like the whole Full Tilt franchise with the players & TV shows they sponsor. Please share your opinions!

How do you deposit? I click on cashier and there is no option to deposit real money. Weird, huh?

I'm not a fan of Full Tilt either , I like some of the graphics... I don't like how the tournaments are listed , all the bright colors and pink n yellows and all that.
Like the Razz games, and all. But I'm in total agreement it doesn't seem as solid as some of the others.

Though I still stand by the fact that full tilt is just a tweaked poker stars, so the old saying goes "if ain't broke , don't fix it"
though it now could use some tweaking....

I really like fulltilt.

The rings from what I have played are soft.
They have razz
They have HORSE tournys (biggest like for me)
Sit and go structure is great (though you can get this elsewhere but I prefer the graphics here)
I have been playing here since beta testing though and I have never got on well at stars which is the most comparable.

kinda sucks you can't buy stuff from the store outside the states though

but apart from the ease of the software and the great appearance, its the HORSE tournys that swing it for me

not had a problem with sit and goes being dead though I am in a diff time zone and I can quite happily fire up party poker at any time if nothing else is going on

surprised there aren't any 6 seated sit and goes but I am sure its not hard to implement this if there is demand

for example the compatability with poker tracker was what kept people away for ages but they soon sorted that out

Mr Sticker,

I agree with most of your likes :)(except the last 2 since haven't deposited)

My dislikes on Fulltilt: Even on the play tables I am sitting there folding to after the flop because I can't hit anything. Or if I see it to the river "DOH" I lose to just a bit better hand. I'm havent' played any tourneys on there yet.......can't seem to get into one(since I haven't deposited yet) But if at the play tables I can't hit anything what makes me think I can in a tourney?

I wish I could say I had more experience with other sites. At one time I had close to 20 on my hard drive but they all went the way of the freerolls. At one time, Full Tilt was the most stable and secure software available. They've slipped in the last year. Or fallen behind. What was once innovative is now starting to seem a little dog eared. Other sites like bodog and Full Contact seem to have picked up where Full Tilt left off.

FTP has always had the reputation for attracting a higher clientele then Poker Stars or Party. If your looking for a challenge then I guess that's a good thing. If your a good player looking for the biggest fishbowl, it's not.
The reason for this is simple. The lowest limit game is .05/.10 NL as opposed to some sites with .02/.05 and even .01/.02.

They have never tried to attract the freeroll crowd and offer only 2 per day. 1 at 1:30am and 1 at 1:30pm, EST. Not exactly prime time. Absolute on the other hand has like 20 a day.

The rake is in the middle of the pack and the deposit bonus's are good, they're difficult to earn.

I recently dicovered they have a $1.00 buy in tourney everyday which I believe pays only one spot.

As for sit-n-gos the lowest buy ins are the $5.50 heads-up, single and double tables; 2,9 and 18 players respectively. The highest is a $200.00 9 seater, which takes millenia to fill up, completely missing the point of a sit-n-go. This doesn't effect me much though.
All in all, FTP is an expensive place to play with not alot of variety which for the most part, keeps out the hooligans.

I like the 9 seat max tables. This should be standard for all poker rooms.
FTP was an innovator with the last hand feature which I love. You can review the last 50 hands played while you had the table opend. You don't have to be playing for this to work. This comes in very handy if you want to scout out the action before you join.

I don't believe there's a site on-line endosed by more pro's than FTP. Last night I watched Layne Flack and John D'Agostino battle it out heads-up for an hour. I counted at least 8 pro's in a $26.00 buy-in tournament the other day. Last weekend I beat out Huck Seed in another one. Never saw him mind you.

Tranferring Money from one player to another is a snap. My wife loves this feature. Funny though how the money always seems to flow in her direction.

I guess that I like more things than I dislike about FTP, but with my one year anniversary of on-line poker coming up I think I may jump ship soon and give Full Contact a try.

I played at Tilt for over a year and found that every now and then you would get to doing pretty good and then wham you`d think you had a great hand like a Full House or a Flush and low and behold somebody had a bigger better one. That would go on until they almost had you broke if you let them. As for tournys you must play very tight until the all inners get knocked out. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!

I don´t have too much experience with other sites, so my opinion isn´t too much useful. I have just played at FTP, Titan, Prima. From those sites the one i prefer is FTP.
The principal reasons of why i prefer FTP are the graphics, the tournaments´s structure and they have razz and HORSE.
If you play NLHE, you´ll find low buy in tournaments every day. They are constantly running $5 and $10 buy in tournaments, but i think that just once a day they have a $1 (i hate the $1 one because the level of play is exactly the same as the freerolls. $5 and $10 buy in is still very low quality, but at least you won´t see players pushing every hand with nothing.) that pays more than 1 spot (which tourney did you see Dogs?:)).
In relation to SNGs, the lowest buy in is $5 + 0.25 heads up (and not $5.5 as Dogs said:p). The only problem with SNGs is that games like stud and razz fill up very slowly (omaha is well accepted, althought i was surprised today when just around 30 players played a $10 tournament). But a high point for SNGs in my opinion is the chips/blinds structure.
FTP is a great place to try different games. I agree that there are too many satellite tournaments, but i´m sure that if you sort the games by the status, you´ll always find a cheap tournament.
Now in relation to ring games, the lowest level is 0.05/0.1 with $2 as min buy and $10 as max. There is where most players spend their freeroll winnings, so it´s a great place to go fishing. If you play at limits like 5/10, you´ll often have the chance to play with a pro.
In relation to the pros, they have so many that almost always you´ll see at least one playing. The problem is that of course they often play at high limits, but if you don´t have a big bankroll you may be lucky and find one at micro limit tables. Phil Ivey and Phil Gordon played at 0.05/0.1, Ferguson, Richard Brodie, Seidel and Perry Friedman played at play money games, and you´ll see often any pro playing at tournaments with less than $30 buy in. Ah, and if you bust any pro at a MTT you´ll get your buy in back and a "i busted a pro" tshirt (i almost busted Erik Seidel at a Stud Hi/Lo MTT).
In relation to that the SNGs go dead after 12am ET, well, i can´t give my opinion about it, because generally i play from 13pm ET to 23pm ET, right before 12am ET......
Now i must tell that all that stuff of "cards are strange at this site, there are more bad beats here than other sites" aren´t valid arguments to judge a specif site. I don´t believe the site is rigged. Bad beats happens everywhere, but you´ll see more online because of the fact that the players are looser. To most players online money seems "less real" and they have the opportunity to join any game when they want, so that makes the game more loose than in a live game, and that makes that less quality hands wins and bad beats happens more often. Also you have to consider the factor that you´ll see more hands per hour than in a live game, which obviously means that you´ll see more bad beats per hour. It´s obvious that at low limits games you´ll see lots of fish playing any cards, so there the only solution (very profitable) is to play the extra tight-extra aggressive style.
That´s my view on FTP, but as i said before i can´t compare it with too many sites, so maybe what i think it´s great it may be 10 times better at another site.

Well i guess i am bias toward Fulltilt cause its the site i started on, and i do Like it, Fulltilt does go for the money players, and the players are now better than when it first started, The sites that attract me the most are Titan,CD Poker and Noble, theres one simple reason, its the talking Sounds, it tends to keep me on my toes, especially when im not paying attention and i hear> IM ALL IN< just seems to keep me awake sometimes. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> buck:cool: :hello:

But isn't there only one HORSE tournament, at 1am Monday morning for $200 buy in? I HATE the appearance of the site, and I agree with others that the tournament screen is a total mess (compare it to Titan for instance). pokerstars for me.

Grumble is right, there are at least 2 HORSE games per day, and some days there are 3, 2 of them satellites to the "Sunday Night HORSE" ($200+16 buy in).

The best way to sort the tournaments are by their status. You just need to see the first 5 tournaments to know if there is a game you want to play within an hour. Don´t worry about the colors, just click on the tournament and you´ll see all the info about it, but if you want to know what does the colors mean, i´ll tell you:
Black: Normal freezeout
Pink: GP (up to 30K) or satellite to pink GP.
Brown: Satellite to 200K GP.
Light brown: Satellite to 60K GP.
Green: Satellite to "Winner´s Choice" ($12000 prize package to either WPT or WSOPC), or Winner´s Choice.
Violete: Satellite to "Sunday Night HORSE" or Sunday Night HORSE.
Red: A pro is registered.
Orange: Satellite to Jersey Days Final.
Blue: Play money.

Well, thanks to all who gave their opinions and to Jesus L. for the FTP tips. However, I think I'm eventually gonna ditch FTP. I've been playing there for 9 days and I'm halfway though my bonus and halfway to earning enough points for a T-shirt, so I'll stick it out for a while longer. But in 9 days, here's some highlights of my experience so far:
  • 3 outages already
  • Played a 9-player SnG that took 1 1/2 hours ("Sit-N-Wait")
  • Can't even get a SnG going after 9 pm Pacific
  • Have seen more river "rescues" than a Search Team
  • Figured out that it takes almost twice as long to play a hand than most other sites I've tried because of delays in FTP's software
  • Bonus would take forever if I didn't play at least 1 $2/$4 limit table or 2 $1/$2 limit tables at a time
Pity though. I really like the Full Tilt franchise as a whole. Cool to see the pros playing & chatting, also. Oh well. Maybe I'll change my mind. I guess I could try a tournament there or something.

No, no. This is excellent! 6-player SnG's are my favorite. Thanks for the info, buddy! I will definitely try them at FTP.

I know it is silly, but I like FT for the avatars and backgrounds. I must admit I have been playing more at Titan, Pokerstars, Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet lately tho............

Tbh. Stick, I started out on FT and made he switch to PS mainly because the graphics and instant visual HH didn't matter compared to all the other benefits PS has....I mean I haven't gone back since...to me the turbo's don't matter just because the way I play and my strategy...turbos take a lot away so...my suggestion is to just play CC events there and play FR other places

Yep. I'd say 90% of my original posts from 2 yeas ago about F.T.P are no longer valid. But they DID have 2 more outages in the last 2 weeks.
