Just installed the new update on full tilt a moment ago and upon logging in again I just received the following message in a pop up box:

"In accordance with Washington State law, as currently interpreted, we regret to announce that players located within the state of Washington can no longer play for real money on full tilt poker.

We would like to assure you that your funds are safe and secure, and you can withdraw as you see fit. Unused Tournament Tickets or Tournament Dollars (T$) can be converted to real money upon withdrawal - please contact wa.state@fulltiltpoker.com for more information.

For more information, please see our FAQ page."

I can't say that I'm completely surprised after the move that pokerstars made last month, but I am definitely disappointed. I was already looking to move, but this may make my decision making process move a little faster.

Virginia

I think Virginia has "online gambling" on her ballot....I may end up in the same "state" of confusion you're in!

Terrible. Tho I'm not completely shocked because Stars already did this. Also worried what state might be next. Really horrible news.

I believe (I may also be mistaken) but the state of Washington is the only state that has explicitly stated that playing online poker is illegal and a felony.

Yes, bummer of an email to receive this morning. :( They don't go as far as PokerStars, though, and will allow WA residents to play on Full Tilt when they're not physically located in Washington.

And just when they started offering draw games, too....

Still have Carbon and Ultimate Bet. Looks like a few others still take WA players so maybe they will last.

If they will allow players to play on FT when they are not in WA state then it sounds like they will be able to setup a remote machine somewhere or maybe even use a proxy. Still sucks.

This is a disgrace and I feel bad for all the people in Washington. All you guys should move and play for real money in a different state. I hope they dont ban online gambling at all.

What move did Pokerstar make last month? Can someone explain to me what they did? Is Wasington State the only state so far? I live in California and I believe our state is to liberal to ever ban online poker. Tough luck for you Washington guys, You poker player might want to think about moving here.

This sucks

there has got to be some way around it but I am not computer savvy enough to have any idea.

I was set to play in the 75K sit and go madness guarentee (that I qualified for last week) and it's telling me I can't play now. I don't understand that because the FAQ page says that freerolls can still be played in as long as the prize isn't guarenteed entry to a buy in tournament.

Luckily I am 5 minutes from Oregon so may have to drive over there, find a Starbucks, and play the tourney there.

the whole US is Next. Read

:musicus::confused:
· The Gambling Commission’s fact sheet on Internet gambling is here: http://www.wsgc.wa.gov/faq/internet_gambling.pdf. The fact sheet includes information on the Commission’s enforcement focus.
· The federal laws on Internet gambling are complicated and there are some untested waters. A 2006 law, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) prohibits businesses from accepting or transferring money to offshore gambling sites. The Wire Wager Act makes it illegal to operate a betting or wagering business using a "wire communication facility." These laws are aimed at businesses, not individual players.
· Several bills are pending in Congress relating to Internet gambling. These include H.R. 2267 which provides for licensing and regulation of Internet gambling and H.R. 2268, sponsored by Rep. Jim McDermott, which would tax Internet gambling.

trip8669, you received this email because you are a player at Full Tilt Poker. Click here to unsubscribe.

Dear trip8669,

Unfortunately, due to the recent Washington State Supreme Court ruling, real-money play at Full Tilt Poker is no longer permitted within Washington State.

In the interest of all of our players who play while in Washington State, we have invested significant time in legal consultation before coming to this decision.

Regrettably, with immediate effect this means that you will no longer be allowed to play for real money when located within Washington State.

Please note that you will only be affected if you are located in Washington State when you log in to our game software - you are free to play as normal when accessing the game from outside the state.

Please be assured that your funds are safe and secure in your Full Tilt Poker account and our Customer Support team is available to assist you with any queries that you may have.

To join the fight to keep poker legal we recommend that you sign up to the Poker Players Alliance (PPA), via https://ppa.secure.force.com/pmtx/MiniStore2?id=70130000000X8BF.

For more information, please see our Frequently-Asked-Questions page at www.fulltiltpoker.com/washington-state-faqand do not hesitate to contact us at wa.state@fulltiltpoker.com.

Yours sincerely,

The Full Tilt Poker Team

That is lucky. Go go go! And grab a nice mocha while you're at it.

Why me?! xD

Guys I am in Portland, Oregon and I logged on Full Tilt and it said I was not allowed to play because WA state has banned online gambling. Why am I being affected by this does anybody know?

P.S. Full Tilt only allows withdrawals of minimum $100 but I only have $57 so what the hell am I supposed to do.

So much for land of the free.

To be honest I think stuff like this is inevitable. Online poker has grown so fast that the legislation is just playing catch up at the moment - Denmark are following in france's footsteps in the New Year... I don't think we've come close to the end of this.

Wait, what did France do? France has a casino everywhere.

The big poker sites really need to take a % of their huge profits and try to get online poker legalized and regulated in the US. I don't care what kind of lobbying they do. Fund Palin's run for president for all I care.

As soon as that stupid UIEGA passed a ton of US players stopped playing including myself (for a few years). And the more problems that continue to happen with deposits and withdrawals might cause even more US players to drop off. Vomit.

Wait, what did France do? France has a casino everywhere.

France actually legalised online poker - on the proviso that French people could only play on French-run sites that ship large amounts to the French government in tax.

Current President is also a Poker player but this has done very little to help the cause.

To be fair, especially in the current climate there will be literally thousands of more important things occupying his time.

Well that's good. The French are such rebels. They have some beautiful casinos. The Aviation Club de France is right on the Champs-Elysees. I stumbled upon it last time I was in Paris but it wasn't worth paying the 100 euro membership fee because it was my last night there.

The casinos in Provence are awesome, too. Strict dress code; no shorts or sandals. The drinks are pricey and it just has that old world casino feel to it.
