Full tilt recently changed how you join ring games. It now only lists the different stakes reporting the number of tables and players with a "Play Now" button to join the action.

No more table selection you sit where they place you.

Is this what we want?

I do not like it at all and I totally dislike how they insinuate that this is somehow better for the players. Tabernac.

It's basically an approach to eliminate bum hunting, thus somewhat protecting the newer players, fish, donkeys etc so that they don't go broke as fast and therefore stick around longer and have a better poker experience.

Shylam posted a link in the Tilt support thread to the ftp changes that were implemented.

All i know is they changed a bunch of reg speed 3k stack mtt's to Turbo 1.5k mtt's, i really don't like that especially after I regged in four games last night without realizing they had changed the format.

Basically they are not looking to appeal to the grinders with these changes but trying to bring in new players and have them stick around longer basically by implementing more turbo's it seems in mtt's reducing edges and reducing the ability to bumhunt on cash games.

Their explanation basically says it's to stop "Bum hunting" <- insert nicer phrase here? I'm guessing it will also stop data-mining at the cash tables too?

I really don't like this - why do they have to do something that all the other sites, including pokerstars, don't?

My complaint is, why implement something that is not to OUR benefit.

i suppose they dont want the new more fishy types being chased off the site and lose them money in the long run.

Can see their point - but dont agree , freedom of choice is nice to have

I am not going to attempt to claim what makes them more money as I don't run a poker room so how would I know.

Some interesting points to ponder:
If fishes don't go broke they don't deposit again.
What generates more rake grinders playing 8 hours per day or more people playing occasionally?
Playing short handed costs me more in rake than full table.
Of late FT has been promoting short handed play through double FTP at short hand tables, now what stops them from enforcing short handed tables defacto.

Sounds to me like a noble marketing rant for ripping off the grinders.

Fish will still go broke, it will likely just take longer meaning they have more fun in the process and would most likely redeposit. Not all fish are going to desposit over and over again if they are no longer getting any fun from the game, they will just stop playing which means less fish so more reg vs reg meaning only the house wins so regs eventually give up as well unless they can improve their game enough to beat the other regs.

If people arn't despositing and keeping an influx of money going into the site the player pool will dry up and those grinders grinding 8 hours a day would be lucky if they can beat the rake because the fish have all left (stopped making deposits because its not fun anymore), if people who are losing money stop depositing eventually traffic gets even worse and no one has anyone to play and still make a profit.

Better for players if it stops the players using software to track and follow the fish abit like a stalker lol

rubbish , they do that by banning huds , stopping downloadable hand history etc, this is nothing more thana rake raising scheme for amaya, less bum hunting means the fish's money survives for longer and gets raked more before its won by the regs and withdrawn. Note the increase in rake at the micro stakes , if they truly wanted to keep recs alive for longer they would be reducing the rake cap at the lowest levels and reducing the amount of rake paid , not increasing the rake% to 6.25% at 2nl and 5.89 at 5nl and 5.55% at 10nl. Its a rake grab guys hidden amongst stopping bumhunting headlines which doesnt even apply at the micros.
I see nothing in these proposals that will get me to leave my current non amaya sites.

I don't think its a bad move at all. Everyone knows that it's getting tougher and tougher to work your way up the poker world, and there are alot less recreational players online as it is.

why not change just one of the sites on the market into an entry level site, yeah they'll do what they'll do with the rake, but to someone who's picking up the game for the first time it's not that important.

and for anyone who may think it's bad for regs, I'm sure the increased amount of new recs will move to stars some day and take a shot once they see there's more prize money, everyone will still get their feed.

for thoe people saying that rake doesn't matter , have any of you compared your winnings to the rake that you pay , then increase that total rake paid by 20% and since you paid that extra in rake its no longer in your winnings,so then take that $ amount off your winnings and then tell me that it doesnt make any difference for new players trying to get started .

They don't want people seeking out and bullying the fish. It's pretty stupid even though I don't play there

on day 1 this will not matter to the average new starter

Very much agree with the changes.

They should do more to make the game fair and square.

Yes, they did. You can´t choose a table now. It´s random.
