FWIW, I prefer FT's interface to Stars. As far as support goes, I have never had to avail myself of support at Stars, but my experience, mostly recent, at FT has been good. In the OFC games this last weekend, they responded to my emails asking why the registration hadn't opened as scheduled within an hour, which I find impressive.
I will add the caveat that I have only played freerolls (Stars own and private) on Stars and that I hate their in-house freeroll setup. You have to play a freeroll to win admission to another freeroll that actually pays out ($1000). The real problem with this is that, although you may have won your ticket in stud, razz, LHE, A-5 draw or 2-7 draw (all of which I've won tickets in), the weekend freeroll has always been NLHE, at least in my experience. FT, on the other hand, has multiple daily FR's in PLO, PLO8, NLHE and Razz.
However, since I now actually have a whole $.25
bankroll on Stars (leaving only Bodog, of the rooms I actually play at all, left to get $$ in), I will continue to grind away, in private freerolls, in hopes of actually getting to sample some of the micro-limit games there.
I would echo other's advise to try both with the play money games and see which one is the most user friendly to you.
