Just curious... if you participate in Full Tilt's Iron Man, do you opt in for the chip and display it at the tables, or opt out and hide it? Any particular reasons why or why not?

I opt in... want my opponents to know that i'm a badass.... lol.

But funny story about the iron man chip that confused me a bit. I was playing a $10 HU last week and lost after ab. 25 min of play, the funny thing is, my opponent started bragging after the match. His comments went something like:
"How's that feel iron man"
"That's right iron man"
"You're the worst iron man i've ever seen"

Or something like that... I got a good laugh out of it, he treated my like my iron man status (which is only silver) like it made me a full tilt pro or something.

Edit: and to further answer your post... i really don't see any reason to opt out, as i worked hard to achieve it.

Haha, the only reason I had the ironman chip was because I accumlated at least one FTP every day. I didn't even get bronze status, but I still got the chip. One day I sat down at a table and everyone started grillin' me. "Whoa, what's that icon you have next to your name?", "Dude, you are awesome!", "How did you get that?!" etc. I felt pretty cool to be honest ;) . Didn't have the heart to tell them that you could be a losing player (which I totally am on Full Tilt) and still have the darn thing.

Oh, that's too funny! :D So it does affect other players' perception of you at the table.

Hmm, still undecided here....

I don't really notice the chip when playing and if I do see it, it makes no difference to me as I'm using my HUD stats and know how relatively easy it is to get an Iron Man chip.

WTF is an "Iron Man" chip?? I never even notice accalades like that unless it's at Carbon---those are kind hard to miss---the different color ribbons, the stars and the like Iknow there's Iron Man and Silver and Gold status medals you can get at UB, but never noyiced where those are, either. Maybe, like jilly, I'm to involved with just watching the cards!:dito:

I opt out, it seems opting in or out takes forever for it to be adjusted by fulltilt.

Well, I don't think it will necessarily scare the fishes away for one thing. Also, I would tend to think it's positive value in "intimidation" slightly outweighs it's negative value in warning people that you play frequently.

Remember, it's not an indication of how good you are, or even necessarily of the volume of your play (it's frequency, although you do have to have about 400 hands/day at $10NL).

I opt in.

Back in the day when I used to cram 4 or 5 tables in the $0.05/0.10 ring games to make it into the iron man tournament I was really proud to show my dedication and I used to play in the freerolls. I remember there was only about 400-500 people who made it and top 180 made the money (starting out at $25) and half the people were sitting out. Now with over 1000 people the field is more difficult and the starting pay is much less I don't think its worth it for me anymore, plus i hate losing my money when i'm good preflop in ring games.
