Who else plays these? I think they are awesome, but I am still trying to figure how the bounty affects things.
I have been playing them pretty normally but the thought of getting something for knocking people out makes them a little more fun.
Normal tourney strategy right?

:icon_thum I adore these.

A portion of the buy in is applied towards the bounties (vs the entire buy-in amt going towards the prize pool).

I tend to play them as a mini-MTTs, basic strategy:
  • Early Stage -- Chip preservation/conservation while blinds low -- > Tight = Premium hands
  • Mid Stage -- Chip accumulation -- > Tight aggressive = Solid hands + Stealing
  • Late Stage -- Chip preservation & accumulation --> Loose aggressive = ATC from position + Stealing
  • ITM (for the KO SNGs which pay more than just the Final Table) -- Chip preservation & accumulation --> Tight aggressive = Solid hands + Position + Raises & reraises (no limping/calling unless on a slow play or float)
  • Final Table -- Chip accumulation for the Take Down --> Adjusted strategy = Big emphasis on Position + Relative chip stacks + Players' tendencies (best to target the medium stacks...short stackers = desperate & big stackers = potential KOed)
One of the reasons the SO sez I wouldn't be a good Cash Game player is because I'm not aggressive enough; in the KO arena I find that I am capable of being aggressive since I want that darn bounty :p if the opp arises (I view it as a bonus since I would prefer the Take Down & the KOs offset the buy in should I be KOed).

I will give you 1 very important piece of advice. And that is DON'T EVER FORGET YOUR PLAYING A KNOCKOUT TOURNY LOL let me explain. I love messing with people so when I get into hand with someone and I have them covered and I know I have them beat rather than put them allin I will bet all their money except for 1 chip most times they just shove the extra chip but a few times people will just call leaving them with just 1 chip. Well last week I forgot I was playing a knockout and did my little raise to leave him with 1 chip and he just called and I beat him and then realized OH **** this is a knockout, of course next hand I'm big blind with 3 2 off and there is like 3 guys all in UGH!!! LESSON LEARNED!!!!

You just get a little pice of the buyin for knocking someone out. I prefer the 90 player deepstack SNG because they pay the top 18 places. both take about the same amount of time to get to the final table. I find playing tight in them is great untill about the bubble then play more aggresive to steal blinds. once I hit the final table I let a few people know themself out first before I start playing unless I get a great hand like AA or KK. after people get ITM they are more aggresive for the first 10 to 20 hands so sit back and let the carnage take people out.

Yea these can be big money spinners if you forget the bounty until you've built a bit of a stack up. You'll find players shoving with any Ace, suited cards, low pairs...all sorts of rubbish really. An early double up should be a cinch with premium hands.
The fact they are turbo's mean they are a bit of a shove fest in the late stages though...
I love the $3 ones, but cashes aren't regular enough to warrent playing all the time.

I like your approach which is essentially what I attempt to do as well. GL, Wally:icon_sunn :icon_sunn :icon_sunn

If you have patience to stomach numerous badbeats & to watch mass amount of terrible players then these are for you!!
I find them kind of annoying to be honest. The play in the early levels is a joke in the $12 & under games. Last time I played in one, very first hand, guy 5bet shoves on me with KQo (of course I happily call w AA). You know he wins with 4spades hitting the board, lol.
The $3 - 90's have probably the worst tournament play anywhere online aside from a freeroll. Doesn't really matter how deep you go, ie. late game play and fools will call down really light (in hopes of KO? which is ridiculous imo,... a paltry few pennies in exchange for stack spewing during key times).
I know there are some staked micro players who play these alot & do decently in them. Personally I'd much prefer to play some 45's with reg. blind levels.
