I quite enjoy plaing in the FT Cap rooms this where you can only push all in for a certain amount no matter how big your stack is. EG playing 1c/2c the max all in was 60c.

I know some players may notr like this as they cant use their stack to push people off but for me with a small bankroll it works really well.

seems kind of silly to me...why not just buy in for the minimum on a regular table...and get more ftps ...if you double up find another table?

The nice thing about these tables is that some players feel more free to push all in with a larger range of hands, since it's not "really an all in".

yeah cap games are helpful because they prevent you from losing your entire stack when your AA loses to 2,3 off suit.

yeah cap games are hindering because they prevent you from maximizing your win when your AA beats 2,3 off suit 86% of the time.
FYP

Seriously though, this should be called TLHE (Table Limit Hold'em) as it is basically nothing more than a cross between NLHE and PLHE. So if people like this sort of game and want to play it because they are risk averse or playing outside their rolls, then that's fine. But marketing it as NLHE with a cap is just a market gimmick and lie. By definition "no limit" means no cap.

I would disagree. It's like playing short stacked no limit with 30 BB max. Having your extra chips on the table is like having them in your pocket at a normal table. It's still no limit, just you can't play deep stacked.

Wow, quite the bit of contradiction going on here in just these three sentences. No, it is not still no limit. By definition "NO LIMIT" means exactly that. Just like in POT limit where the size of your bet is restricted to the size of the pot at that time. Think of it like a buffet. Say you go to an "All you can eat" buffet intent on gorging yourself (skipped breakfast and lunch even). Then after three plates, while heading back for your fourth plate the manager stops you and says you can't have any more because this is an all you can eat buffet with a three plate limit. Well then it isn't an "all you can eat buffet", is it? No, it's a fit as much as you can on a plate buffet because after three plates you can't have any more. Same thing here. It if was NO limit, then a player could bet their entire stack at any time and get the whole thing paid off if they win. This alternative game being described is Restricted Loss HE, or Variance Reduction HE, or Hand Loss Limit HE, or whatever else you like, but it isn't NO Limit.

I like the cap tables for the same reason. You will not lose a large stack, that you built up, to a bad play or a bad beat. However, It minimizes the upside of a hot streak. I can live with that.

I know what you mean.

Its a NL Game which you can buy in for a 30BB max (all other chips on the table are an illusion)

Its a wierd one, I started a thread on these a week or two ago. Its essentially a SS game where most people dont realise it SS game and therefore play hands that need bigger implied odds to be profitable.

I really don't see the point of these games .. other than if you play them, half the table will not realise its actually a SS game... and so you must have soe ind of edge over them

What I mean is, you can't bet your car at a regular no limit table. Likewise you can't bet the extra chips at these tables.

The extra chips are not in play. They are like your shirt - at the table but you can't bet it.

@ Stu: the tables are helpful for people like me who only have like a 6 dollar bankroll and need to minimize their variance. That's about the only reason I can think of. Maybe someone who is an expert at SS play that thinks they can exploit people better here.
