Flopomania

888 Poker just released a new game called Flopomania. It works by dealing out the hole cards and flop before the first round of betting.

No blinds, just the ante for all participating players. Betting continues from this point as normal.

There is also another mode of Flopomania called Push or Fold. I haven't tried it yet but it reminds me of Texas roulette from the wsop App

I decided to try it. I ended up playing 100 hands and got 2 of the scratch cards, both were $3k all-in freeroll tickets.

It's a total bingo game. Since everyone sees the flop you have literally no idea where you stand as anyone could have 2 pair or better with any 2 cards.
I was playing the minimum, $0.05 a hand, and after the first 50 hands I was down $3, but the last 50 hands I was the one catching flops and hitting draws and ended up $1 total thanks to a river flush on the 2nd last hand.

I may dabble in it from time to time as long as they are giving out the scratch cards, but I wouldn't play it just to play it.

I tried another 50 hands and now I think this could be both fun and profitable until people learn how to play.

I'm amazed how much people are over valuing hands in this game (I admit I was guilty of this the first 50 or so hands I played).
When everyone gets to see the flop and could literally have any 2 cards in the hole with no possible read on them I'm seeing people aggressively betting out with top pair, or worse.
Once I started holding back the game got pretty easy, I folded top pair several times and an over pair twice after the flop to relatively small bets.
I ended up winning about $2.50 the last 50 hands with a nice flopped straight and river boat accounting for the bulk of it.
It could have been better but I flopped A's and 5's and let out with a $0.10 bet and a guy shoves for $1.50. I almost folded thinking "set" but I figured it was even more likely he had an A with a big kicker and called. He had A-K and the turn was a K:rolleyes:.
That's actually a good example of the over valuing of hands going on in that game. I'll probably try another 50-100 hands tonight, depending on how it goes.

Having tried out both modes now on Flopomania, I must say I favour the Push or Fold version of the game.

Everyone in the hand plays a 5¢ ante, with a 5¢ dead bet for your first hand sitting. The cards are dealt, two hole cards and the flop.

This is where the new mechanics come into play, you now have the option of either checking or pushing a predefined amount (I was playing 5¢ antes with 50¢ push, $2.50 buy-in). If all players check the turn/river comes out, however, if a player pushes then the other players have to either call or Fold. Once a player pushes and is called, the remaining community cards are dealt out and the showdown occurs, the a winner(s) are declared.

I found this to be a very profitable game mode, having my buy-in more than doubled in around 5 minutes, but I'm interested to hear your take on the new game

I have posted a review of this

https://www.cardschat.com/forum/poker-rooms-10/flopomania-344221/

Please have a look and let me know what you think

You are not wrong, the push and fold version is even easier than the regular version. It's like more than half the players are unable to adjust and keep playing top pair (OR WORSE!) like they can't lose.
I know it's a small sample but I'm up $3 in 150 hands of the regular flopomania and up over $7 in 100 hands of the push or fold version (winning 4 3 way pushes really helps:D).
I'm finding it best when I can find a table with 4 players (myself included), at least top pair with a good kicker still has good value a decent % of the time.

After playing these games I've completely changed my opinion. At first it looked silly, but I now think it actually reduces the luck factor. The chasers only have 2 cards to catch up instead of 5.
I'm going to play 50 more hands tonight, just to see if it keeps going well, and to get my last scratch ticket of the day (5 tickets so far, all $3k all-in tickets).

Played yesterday. I don't like the new format. Sit down with 50 BB. Mandatory ante. It is difficult to specify ranges of rivals.

I need a lot more hands to say something clear about, it's hard for me to have an opinion with only 50/100 hands.:)

I played 150 hands with a $3 profit. The format creates more action and rake. Here are the odds for the flopomania scratchcard promotion.:joyman:

Seriously, I've never seen such bad play in my life as I've seen the last couple of days in this game, and it's a very GOOD thing.:D

If you can find the right table there are players donating over and over and over again. One guy on the last table I was on must have lost at least 20 $0.50 pushes and won only a handful. I hit him for 5 of them.
I checked a flopped set twice and he pushed with a pair and on the last one I pushed with a flopped K high flush and he calls with just the 8 of hearts in his hand, no pair or draw.
I think that $0.50 push limit entices certain players to go nuts with any piece of a flop.
As for the scratch cards, all 9 I've scratched have been $3k tickets. The odds of hitting $1 is about 1 in 7 so I'm a bit behind on the odds so far.:p

As long as you're making money at the tables; all is good.

You must have been bad luck for me, I hit 1 measly top pair the whole time you were on my table, but I've racked up 3 quick "push" wins since then already:p

That table looked like a bunch of nits. Glad it loosened up for you. :D

I like the format and think that could be profitable because is new and attracts a lot of recreational players.
So lets improve the postflop game ;)

888 try to update the game with new views, but flopomania simply tears out a piece of the game, turning it into roulette.
