Well I played in my first live tourney today. Don't know whether Diablo was there or not as he didn't call. Anyway, it was a rebuy event and I knocked out 4 people and they just rebought. Handled myself well, played patient but the cards didn't come when I needed them. I was much more comfortable than I thought I would be and I enjoyed the event. Had it been a freezeout, might still be playing. Looks like I missed a good one today as I would have liked to have a shot at XD myself...

Found out from the TD that the goddamned thing was a rebuy when I called to reserve my seat and I don't do large buyin rebuys. Too many maniacs with a lot of cash make it impossible to advance. So I got drunk and slept in.

Diablo I have to agree, large buy-ins suit the better off people in this world. A friend of mine that runs a bi-annual 100euro re-buy (unlimited till the first break, 2 hours in), refers it as a total joke.

As he said himself at one of his events the final table had invested 75% of the money that they would win in the end themselves. One guy re-bought 8 times.

The rest of the money he aptly refered to as his ' Drinking Fund '

But well done Dave, its a good experience live. Did you find yourself with shaking hands at any stage, and thng OMG Im giving the best tell in the universe ??? And if you did were you by any chance holding AA or a make house ??

Actually I'm suffering from a miserable cold so I was pretty drugged up. Probably helped in that I felt like shit so I was emotionally neutral. It was good experience but I don't think I'll try a rebuy again. The folks at my table had over $2500 invested as all of them save me and another guy rebought multiple times. The other guy that didn't rebuy had pocket aces 4 times in the 2 1/2 hours I played. I asked him if he went by Grumbledook, but he wouldn't admit it. May play in the freeroll today as I'm just sitting here feeling like shit. Been doing well on the headhunter tourneys at Jetset, have doubled my bankroll there in 3 days...

The good thing about rebuy tourneys is these suckers up the pot by a vast amount. You have to play really tight until you get a hand and milk the lot of them.As a general rule i will allow myself one rebuy and/or add on and no more.Daniel Negranu(?)once rebought 27 times in a $1000 tourney, who the hell can afford to do that?(he finished 4th and won $100000+ though!)

LOL, I follow the forums over on Negreanu's website and during the wsop it is a running joke about him and his rebuy addiction. Its like crack for him. He rebuys over 10 or 15 times usually in the 1000-1500$ tournaments. Its sick, but he does it usually in a way that it ends up being a +EV move. Just like the above instance where he rebought 27 times at 1K to win 100K. Makes sense to me if you have the cash to do it.

I watched Dad play for a while and he was cool and playing pretty well. There was a steady stream of folks at the rebuy counter so they must have made a mint on this event. I may try one of their Friday night games as it's cheaper - but still a rebuy.
