Hello guys!
I didn't see any thread like this when i was using the forum's search function so i thought i should create a thread like this on my own to see where the other members play their online poker at.

I'll start with saying that pokerstars is my favorite pokersite from the ones i tried. I like their deposit its not like partypoker where i have to deposit 20€ minimum, Here i can just deposit 10$ and thats what i want for now. Also i have friends and there is alot of other good players at PokerStars to play against.

I find difficult to choose just one favorite, the options are many, but I like Pokerstars and Merge Network (Carbon Poker, Black Chip Poker etc). What i think is important is a good software and the speed of withdrawals, but also like a lot of sites where you have the option of Sportsbooks and Poker, integrated accounts where you can move money in both accounts :)

Right now there is only two poker sites that are my favourite:

#1 888 Poker
- Points don't expire
- nice promotions, and vip rewards
- web cam tables
- fishy players

I hate the 888 table theme though, it looks like something that was designed in MS paint.

#2 Black Chip
- Received a Free bankroll With Them
- Daily Private $25 Freeroll
- Cardschat has Private Events with them as well

VPPs expire every month but FPPs never expire. So it's good if you want to save up for something nice in the points shop.

IMO it depends on what you prefer.

I like poker stars. I also play BCP and PKR. But stars has the most traffic as well as having survived BF with flying colors. Stars has a larger pool, so gonna have more regs. I have heard this makes it harder to beat, but I am not convinced about this.

PKR has a great membership level in that you never loose your status no matter how much you play. You can take 6 month break and be where you were when you start back up. Soft as well.

BCP, I only played like 8 k hands but have 250$ due to a FR win and then 3xing it so it seems soft. But small pool, so not on so much.

Pokerstars!

But alas, I am an American so my freedoms are very limited and my government only wants me to play on shady sites with no consumer protection.

Why Pokerstars you might ask? Well, apart from having the largest player pool, the most games running, segregated and guaranteed player funds, fairly easy withdrawals, the best customer service in poker, and the best software, the biggest thing is I trust them not to screw me over.

After Black Friday they could have kept the thousands of dollars that I had online, or at least made it a major hassle to get that money off, but instead they paid me, knowing they wouldn't see that money anytime in the near future. Pokerstars seems to have integrity, which is a rare thing in Poker. The only other site that comes close seems to be party poker.

If American's are ever allowed to play on Pokerstars again, I will. They have earned my business.

PKR is good fun, plus because of the software, most players are very fishy I find. No satellite strategy, saw someone shove 15 big blinds with AJ offsuit under the gun on the satellite bubble, to be called by KK and get knocked out. Plus, you can type in expletives, which is always nice (you have to change your settings to be able to view them instead of ****). Traffic could be better though.

I find iPoker really soft, albeit the software is a bit dreary. Paddy Power, in particular has some awesome MTT promotions for micro players especially, for example, play two specific $1.10 MTTs (with a $100 added prizepool) in a week and get entered into a weekly $1k GTD freeroll. Play 2 specific freerolls on monday and tuesday and get into the final on friday. ipoker sites also have good quality traffic at peak times on all hold 'em games and surprisingly good traffic at micro PLO.

However, there is no questioning the software, traffic, promotions and variations of poker available on Pokerstars. For new players, the PokerSchoolOnline site is a great way to start learning and then by completing the quizzes, getting free tournament tokens (only if you have not deposited yet). There are a lot of regulars, however, its always quite exciting to have someone like Lex Veldhuis or Liv Boeree on your table :D.

It really depends on what you like. In my opinion, once you go Pokerstars, there's no going back (unless you ban yourself for 6 months).

^^Pretty-much all of this. Well, except the Party Poker bit.... Don't know anything about them. But, as far as PS, I have nothing but respect for them. Treat their players right, prompt hassle-free payouts, great software, super customer support, what's not to like? If I'm ever allowed to play there again they will instantly become my main site. IMO, they set the example for what a good, professionally-run poker site SHOULD be like.

First of all... @Bauss thank you for posting that you got a $25 Free Bankroll from YPC... I was not aware of this, never had an account with them... so this is a nice freebie! Awesome.

On to the topic... I loved and will always love Poker Stars as it was and is the best software and card room around. With the news surfacing about Poker Stars buying out Full Tilt, maybe they will apply for a license and when and if online gambling becomes legal... we will have it back in the US... at that point I will drop all other poker rooms as Poker Stars was the one to get me hooked on online poker. Also, PS offers a plethora of tournaments starting every 5 minutes it seems like. Just far superior to all other poker rooms.

But since I am in the US of A... I love Hero Poker (merge network). Why? They offer a huge number of little kickbacks when you up your VIP points... tickets into fast fifty freezeout... tickets to Double up $1 sng's for ever level you go up you get some kind of kickback. And also if you are a free roll player they offer 4 tournaments daily (2 in afternoon and 2 at night) of a $99 FR where top nine players get $11 and a FR that top three get paid $50, $30, $20. The playing field is usually only 150 people or less so it is very easy to cash in the $99 top nine MTT.

I guess since I am in the United States, I can only really go with Merge network as they seem to have the largest field of players for a US allowed poker room... and as far as the Cake network... blah... I hate their software A LOT... it reminds me of BetOnline (but without the dropout connections)

Well that's my two cents...

Moe.

Thanks for the tip on Hero Poker. I've heard good things about them before, and have been meaning to check them out. Thanks for the reminder.

What you should be looking for is the largest player pools in all honesty. You want to play against the most amount of fish right? Also, if you use a HUD, whether or not it is allowed @ a site is the other thing you should be looking for. Also, whether or not you live in the united states plays the biggest factor. So, of all the sites, the largest that allows us players and a hud, the only one that makes sense to me is the merge network....if you are outside of the us, play @ stars. It's that simple.

Pokerstars would be my gold standard but alas it is not to be for US players like myself. I have no complaints about Players Only which is my merge skin.

Greed. As soon as they can figure-out a way to get their cut the government will allow us all to play again. Probably will be taxed so heavily, though, that no one will be able to turn a profit.

Depressing thought. Hopefully the taxes will be paid when you put money on, so it will be like an up front cost that can be overcome.

That would be ideal.....Well, ideal as could be given you know the rate would be pretty high, but at least your winnings wouldn't be taxed and you could eventually turn a profit. Doubt it will happen that way though..... Too much money to be made by repeatedly taxing everyone as they withdraw.

. Stars has more regs. I have heard this makes it harder to beat, but I am not convinced about this.
I'm thinkin' there's some sites you haven't been on then (or at least not recently). I'm not suggesting to 'not' play on Stars due to there bein' alot more regs. but am suggesting that if you're a winning player you will win with a much higher winrate at some of the other sites (ie. 888Poker). Every site I've played on seems softer than Stars (ie. PartyPoker, iPoker network, Ongame, 888Poker, ...).

My fav's: (keep in mind I prefer playing micro/low buyin Tournaments & MTT-SNG $5-$30, which obviously greatly influences my choices)
Fulltilt (#1 by far.... although obviously not anymore :( )
#2 PokerStars (< even though I rarely play on it)
#3 iPoker (Titan, WillHill, Poker770, etc.) & PartyPoker (PartyPoker/wptPoker) < these two about tied
#4 Ongame (Bwin, Paf) < don't like the software as much as PP & iPoker but it's a close 3rd
