Earning points on Merge...60c Fast fifty vs. 1.10 Dollar Dazzler

Hey all... just thought I would mention that I figured out that you get paid 1 point for playing the 60 cent fast fifty 9 seat sng ... and you get paid 1 point for the 1.10 dollar dazzler 9 seat sng... the levels are 4 minutes on both so I would say you get more bang for your buck playing the fast fiftys.... especially if you playing with a small bankroll...

You earn more points but you pay more rake so it will bleed your bankroll if you don't have much. Earning points isn't much good to a micro stakes player from what I remember playing on Merge. Go With the $1s cos more $ goes to the prize pool so you'll get more bang for your buck when you cash.

Hit the nail on the head. Points are not something to look to acquire(in the majority of cases, unless chasing bonuses and such), they are just something that are a byproduct of playing that you might be able to use when you accumulate enough

Actually I've accumulated enough last month in one week to play the freeroll (thats 250 points) for the 125 seats to the 125000 and won a ticket for it...Not saying your wrong...because I didn't accumulate them only by playin 60 c fast fiftys..lol ... I'm still relatively new to poker and honestly havent gotten my head wrapped around the mathematics and rake and all that... I think that will have to be my next step. I have tried to learn how to calculate pot odds..etc.. and have a fair understanding of it but cant do the actual precise math in my head...I understand outs but that's about it when it comes to the math... I know I need to learn more ... little by little...

You're welcome. That 125 seats to the $125k freeroll sure is tempting so I can see why you might want to try to earn as many points as you can. Better to just focus on improving your game for now and you will get there in time.

very interesting to know the fast fifty pays the same amount of points as the turbo 1.10. Another thing to consider is the fast fifty is .5+ .1 so the rake is twice as much percentage wise as the 1 + .1
