I actually had a bit of fun on the 'old Doyles' back in '07. It was one of the sites I used to learn the game .... on the cheap. (they had 10cent sng's, & rake was only 10% (1cent)). Then they had the software update on microgaming network which was great! (I actually liked that software.. still playing on it today on
32red). Eventually moved from the 10c sng's to playing 10nl & 20nl ring games, initially so that I could qualify to play the 'rake-required' freerolls on the site (some were $500, had ~350-450 entrants, with a variety of games. I used to make a point of playing the 7stud ones & had a few final tables in them).
A $2 NewYear's Freeroll win, translated into a $400
bankroll on there! (but mostly, a site where I was able to play a bit of volume while getting my feet wet, all risk free (no $'s invested). I used to regularly recommend it to my friends who were getting started playing
online poker. (many would play on there as well as Stars/FTP, using Doyles to mess around because of the low buyin SNG's, which actually had better play in them then the $1's & $2's on Stars/FTP). You could do p2p transfers too!
Then they moved to 'Cake'... nuff said
Had a ton of screw-ups during the short period I continued to play on there, finally packing it in after the site kept freezing on me while on the bubble of a $50mtt.
