I just read the latest news that Doyle's Room will be moving to the cake network. Before that, they had their sites set on the Merge Network. Which network do you guys think Doyle's Room fits in the best?
I really liked the microgaming client for Doyle's Room. It offered unique features that aren't available in most poker rooms. They had super micro sngs which is nice because if you win a few cents from the super turbo freerolls, you can grind it up like a poor man. The super turbo freerolls were really nice too. I think top 600 got paid, and the tournament goes so quickly, so no more pushing it in with any two hands early game if you are impatient since the blinds did it all for you. The graphics were gorgeous as well.
Anyways, from this to Cake would be a big difference. I assume they'd have to use a cake client just with a different skin if they moved over to cake. Also, I'm pretty sure those micro tables will be gone. Also, Cake is raster while microgaming used vector, so a lot of people will be dissapointed with the cake client's graphics. Also, when I used to play, the traffic at the tables were really low, much like merge is now. I think Merge and Microgaming's clients, simply because they are both vector, are the most alike. If Doyle moved to the Merge network, it would probably double the traffic, and it's nice to have reliable alternatives. Also, the microgaming's client seems much more stable than cake's client.
So the Cake network is much bigger in active players, so it would attract many Doyle players because it wouldn't take too long to sit down at a table and start the action. This would increase revenues for Doyle's room as more people would play more (fees and rakes), and more people may actually log into the client more (increase of active players). However, I don't believe Doyle's Room offers rake back when at least two of the cake skins do. I'd think many people would just sign up for another cake poker skin and ditch Doyle's Room. However, if moved to the merge network, which I believe also doesn't offer rake back, it wouldn't really matter to the existing member's of Doyle's Room. These are just thoughts though, and guesses/assumptions. I did read that when Doyle's was in the Tribeca network, they did offer rake back, so I don't know how that works with the players who got that back in the day.
Final choice, I think Doyle would be better on the Merge network. Merge's client is closest to the microgaming client, and it would help the Merge network a lot. Also, I see minimal risks of players leaving the client for another merge skin as opposed to a move with cake.

I hope they move to either, I used to play exclusively on Doyles. Loved the place, first cardroom i ever played at...etc. then the UIGA comes along and they cant accept USA players anymore. I was able to go back when microgaming accepted (briefly) players from all 50 states. Now as a resident of Oregon I can no longer play there. I just want to be able to play in the bounty tourney again. Always liked that tourney.

SOOOOOOOO my vote goes to them playing on any network that serves all 50 of the united states.
