DoylesRoom Celebrates Cake Poker Network Move with Launch Party
by PokerPages.com
Tue, Jan 27th, 2009 @ 12:00am Today it is official; popular
online poker site DoylesRoom, named in honor of ten-time
WSOP Champion
Doyle Brunson, has announced their launch on the Cake Poker Network, which means they can again take poker players from the USA.
It seems the decision Microgaming made last November to begin denying U.S. players as a result of the ongoing Kentucky online
gambling domain seizure case, prompted Doylesroom to move.
Ironically, on January 20th, the
Kentucky Court of Appeals ruled that the state could not seize the 141 domains because they are not considered gambling devices, so are not subject to seizure (though Kentucky quickly
filed a counter appeal to the Kentucky Supreme Court).
Yes, DoylesRoom has moved several times. They initially opened their doors on the Tribeca network. After the UIGEA passed, they moved to the Microgaming Network. And now they have moved to their new home on the Cake Poker Network.
In their press release today, DoylesRoom announced that they will christen their most recent move with a $5,000 Launch Party Freeroll at 5pm ET on Saturday, January 31st. Just 24 hours later, DoylesRoom will host a $100,000 Guaranteed No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournament with a reduced-fee buy-in of $150+$12 at 5pm on Sunday, February 1st.
