I would imagine all online poker sites have bots at times. Any time there is a chance to make money people will try to cheat. However I do think that most if not all (well at least the big ones)sites do everything in their power to stop bots.

I agree, I'm sure something can always slip through, but if you're on a reputable large site they will do their best to prevent any cheating because the more fair their games are, the more we will be willing to trust them with our money. And in full ring non-fixed limit play I have my doubts about how good a bot would be against an observant player anyway.

...there are no bots (save makwa ) .....
If some players play like weirdos - it's just them being weird.

Bots have been found on many sites. There is no question that sites are monitoring play and watching out for the little guy. However, it's a fact that bots have been found on certain sites.

If you lose your "whole bankroll all of a sudden", you aren't following good bankroll management practices. Sounds more like over betting with beatable hands than losing to bots.

About 'bots on Full Tilt' - here's a link to their site rules about bots, collusion, cheating, etc including info on prohibited programs (like bots). Online Poker at Full Tilt Poker - About Us: Legal Information

I indeed believe Sandar's problem to be with bankroll management. Not with bots. You should search "Bankroll Management" and read up my man.

...ah, ok good to know....

What hasn't been mentioned is differentiating between site bots and player bots. A site bot would be one (or more) operated by the site itself to increase their profits. Player bots are those used by a player, usually in order to multi-table and play only mathematically preferred hands (in general).

Major sites have policies prohibiting bots and do not use them for their own profit either. Stars, FT and other MAJOR sites are quite capable of detecting bots and will investigate reports of suspected bot use by a player.

Site bots - no (but they do exist) - they make enough money off the rake without putting ANY bets at risk. Small, struggling sites with big budget appetites - wouldn't surprise me - and that's why I only play major sites.

Player bots - yes - they exist. real money Poker is gambling. With gambling come the cheats. Think you've spotted one? Report it to the site support with player ID and table info - date, time, game, etc.

I would be more inclined to worry about player-to-player cheating/collusion. Why buy a program, risk getting caught and having your account closed and money forfeited? The use of cell phones, instant messaging (IM) and any other hi-speed communication means makes player cheating a greater possibility.

I ever a question if someone you are playing at a table is real.Cheack this site. Official poker rankings.com this site gives rankings profits and a history of where the player plays on some of the biggest sites..Check it out you can even look yourself up.

How would checking OPR tell you if a player is 'real' ??

All OPR would tell you is how that 'bot' is doing. All player 'bots' would need a player ID on the site in order to get a seat and an account. OPR tracks results of play, not integrity of player accounts.

I have also thought many times about this "bot" question, but i'm on that opinion, that famous sites, like pokerstars or full tilt poker, etc don't really want to do illegal moves, I think they have enaugh profit from the rake and from the tournament fees.

peoople claim they have made a program "bot" which plays poker for them. You have to think about it tho. "dominated by online bots", no way. Think about it if someone made one of these programs, the best it could do is play like the creator does. It could only play by the book. The bot couldnt say, "i think this guys is bluffing me im gonna call with bottom pair". It would only make the decision based on whats in its database. I hope there are bots, you could see a continous cycle of play over a few hands, and just rip it apart.

Yes There Are Bots

Speaking for the Bots, as I am one, I can tell you that we do exist. This thread is a bunch of silly speculation -- player Bots are available, for a price, just google around. If Stars or Tilt etc. catch you using one (and they have ways to do so), you will be banned. The sites do not allow the use of Bots, but also there are ways to make Bots very hard to detect.

That having been said, Bots are not big business because we dont win as much as you may think, and can be beat, particularly if a player knows they are up against one.

So yes, there are Bots, commercially available right now, but frankly they are not that good (unlike me, I am a Super or UberBot).

If you want to worry about something, focus on colluders, chip dumpers etc.. they are the ones messing up our beloved game.

And sometimes Bots can go on tilt on tilt on tilt on tilt on tilt on tilt on tilt on tilt beep beep beep beep beep

i played on a royal ,flush jackpot table for about 2 weeks untill the jp went off. And i got to know almost every regular player pretty well. Everyone played basically the same except from the occassional maniac or mouse. But there was one particular player that played completly different and over the two weeks i saw them most days. they took exactly the same time to make decisions each time and the only bet they made was allin. with nothing less than 10 10. I was not the only one sus either, the player never spoke ounce or showed any sign of thinking. had to be a bot. the funny thing was i saw them loose just as much as they won. yeah nothing to worry about atleast theyhave patterns that are easy to pick up on.

If you think there are no bots or cheats by players you are only fooling yourself. Like said earlier this is gambling and that means people are always trying to beat the system. The internet is too anonymous to trust completely. Report possible collusion, bots and even beggars. These all ruin the game for the people that just want to play.

GL on and off the felts.
