This question came to mind the other day, and I suppose the only real way to check/prove it would be to look at the code of the software. Although, I'm not entirely sure how "decks" of cards are produced online, whether the 52 are shuffled, or one of 52 is chosen at random.

thats a really good question! asked this myself also haha
If i had to take on of these 2 option I would really say that the cards are random chosen. Cuz if they would shuffle and/or burn you would see a deck on the table tho in my opinion

And why would they do that? It makes no difference.

Burning cards seems to be more showmanship than anything else in live poker. If the cards are truly properly shuffled, there would be no need to burn a card. Online, the cards are dealt completely randomly (conspiracy theorists may disagree) so there is absolutely no need to burn them.

What would be the point? Online cards can not get marked...

A burn card is calculated into the randomizing algorithm that controls all card distribution.

I doubt that just anyone would know that answer. It probably begins with the software. Good question....

One would hope it is as close to real as possible.

It's not important, because the "burned cards" is a way against trickery, in the plataphorms you'll need trust in corporations that you save your money

I did read an article regarding shuffling a while ago when I was researching something else.

The way shuffling works on poker sites is to take the cards and randomly swap two adjacent cards with each other. This happens repeatedly, but I have no idea how long for.

They would have no need to burn a card each time. This is done to prevent cheating in case the top card is marked

As far as I know, there are two types of number generator, the first cards are built and they will no longer change on the turn flop and the river. And the other one when the flop cards will shuffle both in front of the turn and in front of the river. As far as they are, there are a couple of services that check this. I've heard that the company that checks pokerstars for it and owns it by 30%, as far as you can trust. But I will remind you this is not reliable information but only rumors.
