Back in 2006-2007 I made a few hundreds on PokerRoom, but I had trouble dealing with downswings so I cashed it all out and stopped before going bust.

Kept playing live with friends, but no more online.

I logged back on Full Tilt last week and accumulated 5 tournament tickets with the daily freerolls, only to realize that I can't use them because they only eventually give you access to "New to game" tourneys which I can't partake in, having an old account.

Searched around a bit and found out that the golden days of freerolls are pretty much gone.

I'm thinking about depositing minimum back on Full Tilt and starting again with micro limit tournaments since I do not have pro aspirations, just some good clean fun building my game back up and reading Cards Chat.

Glad to be here and I'll be sticking around CardsChat since most of my winning advice has been dug out of this forum over the years.

See you around;)

The golden days of freerolls have been gone for quite some time. I've been around long enough to remember when there were plenty more plus they had larger prize pools and smaller fields. There were more awful players too. As a result, if you were even half-decent (not good, just half-decent), you could win hundreds or even a few thousand per year depending on volume.

Anyway, GL in your return to poker.

God I remember when Full Tilt used to have The Ferguson (1000 entrants and the top 100 got 1$) and The Daily Dollar (2000 entrants in a Hyper SnG with the top 200 getting 1$ tournament tickets). Plus, they used to have 100$-250$ freerolls for each country depending on the size.

I miss when online poker used to let you have nice things :(

^^ Yeah, I remember the country freerolls.

I cashed out a few times in them but never managed to whip up a bankroll from those earnings.

Country freerolls were my favorite, too :) Though, if you stick around you can play CC freerolls and build from them. CC freerolls are definitely best you'll find.

Googled it.

Was unaware Cards Chat offered those. That's awesome and see you at the tables

Correct me if I'm wrong - but aren't there a lot of sweet freerolls to be had on pokerstars? I was playing there (play money practice) when I got into OLP about a month ago - before I realized they didn't accept US players. I feel like I remember seeing some okay freerolls there.

Man those were times, thou my country didn't have freeroll but i loved to play hyperturbo for daily dollar, man what happynes that was when i win a ticket there...

@OP you can still play first depositors freeroll if you have never deposited there could add some extra money to the roll to start grinding...

We can see the new trend now, make it pointless to try to start from 0 and make them deposit

the golden days of freerolls aren't all gone. this site (cardschat) has some nice freeroll once you register and qualify. that's what i'm hoping to do. also, black chip poker has some really nice but hard on demand freerolls for $10 purse for the top ten. it's hard lol really hard to get up there.

Its true that its harder to make meaningful amounts through freerolls, unless u hit a few final tables, but if you take it as entertainment without any financial downside, its a good deal.

Yes it is now little freerolls to play them. you have to play the satellites what play in money freeroll... but on the other side during the tournament, a lot of sitout players.. and get ITM not very hard..

There's no monetary cost to play freerolls, but they do require you to spend your time. Look at how much time you spend playing them, and figure out your win rate per hour. It's very likely to be a pretty small amount.

There are still freerolls out there, but you have to do some digging. Take whatever site you like playing at and look at their private tourney section. That will give you some leads on how to get involved with sites that offer freerolls. I personally am not willing to deposit after black friday, so I've built all my BRs from freerolls.

I will say some sites do offer some freerolls but it seems to be that the majority of the freerolls are private and include some requirements.

golden days of freerolls are gone, these days i play on ipoker where you mostly have private freerolls and some fr for beginners
also you can see that incash rate have been increased from 7 or 8/1 to 10 to 20 (on 888 eg)/1

at least we could play now on ftp, considering it was shut down for 2 years. glad pokerstars bought it, because people who have money in these site would have lose all the money. bad thing is that when they reopen the site they took away the freerolls, however there are some private freerolls especially on pokerstars, and the cardschat freeroll are a great chance to start making a bankroll without risking any money.

Freeroll is not the same anymore, cc has some good freerolls and you can learn a lot and play with the pros. I find pokerstars 100k freeroll is ok once you have chrome star level and up, it happens 3 times daily and a chance to rebuy. I've been playing it since the beginning and cashed in quite a few times , only difference now is the majority of players that you have to go through.

FTP used to have the 1000 guar. You could buy in initially for .10 and rebuy for a buck. Those were good times. Free rolls are a lot more scarce these days to be sure. Rooms on the Hero network probably offer the most. CC is great as they have a couple a week that I can play living in the US.

Doesn't pokerstars still have decent freerolls? I can't play on there, so I'm not sure.

Also, I try not to play in freerolls for less than $100. Adds up to too much work for not enough payout.

BTW - Another way to build a BR from next to nothing could be playing at 1.10 MTTS.
