I can't stand it when poker sites disable the chat just cuz somebody is all-in. Especially when a person is all-in cuz they're down to their last few chips. Was there really that big of a problem w/ ppl saying stuff when ppl went all-in? I hate when I'm trying to say something about a hand, but then have to wait until after the next hand cuz of an all-in, cuz by then ppl aren't even sure of what hand you're talking about. Plus, I've noticed lately that, on FTP, it won't let u say anything at all when u get knocked out of a tourney. I know a lot of times ppl get mad and say stupid stuff when they get knocked out, but ppl also like to say stuff like gg and gl. Why do they keep doing such annoying stuff?

It's good that they do this. It prevents collusion. It also protects people who don't know they are colluding if they type something like "Hey you call too and we'll check it down" or something to that effect.

This is the reason they do this. Not to be annoying;).

Is it against the rules to agree to check down? I'm not too good w/ the specific rules, but I could swear I've seen players do that on TV. I do know that ppl can get in trouble if they tell others what cards they have during a hand, if ppl report them. They can still do that if nobody's all-in, tho. I agree with the hillbilly, ppl shouldn't talk about their hands until after the hands over. The chat isn't disabled in some of the private tourneys during all-ins.

Is it against the rules to agree to check down?< Yes!! There'll often be 'implied collusion'.. ie. where a couple of players check it down to KO a SS... but it is for sure against the rules to verbally suggest doing this. I'm not too good w/ the specific rules, but I could swear I've seen players do that on TV. I do know that ppl can get in trouble if they tell others what cards they have during a hand, if ppl report them.< they shouldn't need to have to have people report them... it's really poor etiquette to say what your hand is... 'piss poor' actually (and yah, I do report the ones who do it more than once & who don't realize they should just shut the hell up). A bit heated about this because last night a friend of mine was deep in an MTT ITM & this one goofball kept saying shit when the flop would come down 994.. he'd say.. Damn man.. I had a 9.. meanwhile player in hand has just check-raised tryin to rep. the 9 from the blinds, lol.. but not too funny at the time. This guy kept doing it over & over & over again. Wanted to hit him thru the puter screen. They can still do that if nobody's all-in, tho. I agree with the hillbilly, ppl shouldn't talk about their hands until after the hands over. The chat isn't disabled in some of the private tourneys during all-ins.
Pretty sure the chat 'is' disabled in all priv. tourneys once a player is allin... unless you're last to act (& are still in hand). The guy who's allin can't say squat, nor can any of the others. (had a guy reraise me allin in a priv game the other day (CC game),I lead out & he made a HUGE reraise overshove on turn when 4th club hit the board & said to me just before he shoved, "no.. did you just make the flush there?" then he shoved (& could no longer chat), holding the Ac I responded, "yes, actually I did".. and called with the nuts. (this is the only sort of situation where you'll be able to chat once someone has gone allin).

It isn't a bad thing to have. People can declare their hand before calling which wouldn't be fair to the original person who has just shoved. I'm sure if you are last to act to a shove you can type. I've done this before with say Jacks or Queens and say "Really close with my Jacks here" as this doesn't effect anyone else at this point.

sorry chat disabled :p

no but I have had it happen to me too , where I was going to say something after the hand but an all in next hand prevented it , thats understandable . but I really hate it when you can't say anything after being knocked out like gg gla or fu donkey . but I never had any site except ub prevent me from chatting afterward .

Isn't checking down a short stack player who is all-in kind of expected, even without chat. I got dressed down for raising a good hand in second position after the short stack was all in. The third guy then folded to my raise and would have won the hand if we both would have called and checked it down. I defended my play by explaining that I don't like doing that and that I play my own hand. The consensus at the table was that I was wrong.

I cannot count how many times I wanted to type in "He's bluffing, Call him!" in the chat window. Not because he was bluffing but just for the action to cripple or eliminate somebody.
So yeah, I could see it being a problem.

And yeah, you were probably wrong.

Check it down there, unless you have the nuts. But whatever you do, don't talk about it!

This Thread is EPIC ANNOYING!!

+1

Also the word "epic" is getting particularly annoying;). It seems to be every other word coming out of my 10 year old boy's mouth. Epic this epic that. The word has no more impact anymore.

I think it makes perfect sense honestly. There would be too much collusion going on in a lot of hands, and it would compromise the integrity of the game. All you have to do it wait a couple of seconds, if you can't do that man maybe you should stop playing poker :p

For security purposes, they do that. To avoid conspiracy.

This is a sillt thread, they have to disable chat or the games would be pointless if u wer short stacked and have to push three or four people could call you and check it down, and ur gone.
