Well, finally the day came.
The poker room was scheduled to open at noon today, so I got there around 930am to make sure I didn't get shut out. Was a little surprised that there were only 15 people waiting, I thought I was coming pretty late. By the time the room opened the line stretched to over 1000 people, at max capacity the room would only hold around 450 so those people had quite a wait.
They let people in 10 at a time to register for the table limit they wanted, get their chips from the cashier and then hang until their chosen limit filled. I got in a $2-$5 NL table, we were all assembled and waiting when noon came and they gave the shuffle up and deal command!
Things really seemed to run pretty well, the dealers I had at my table were certainly competent, I think they raided the Delaware casinos for about 1/3 of the total dealers.
Best hand for me.
I get dealt AK os in the big blind, raise $15 preflop and get 4 callers. Flop is Q/J/10 rainbow. I bet $50, get raised by first person, second person reraises, 3rd person calls reraise, I go all in for a little over $400 and all 4 of them call me.
The board didn't pair and I was the only AK so took in a $2000 pot. One guy had trip jacks, the other two had q/10.
I left after 7 hours with a total profit of $2130. There were still at least 200 people in line waiting to get in the poker room.
Only poker celeb I saw was Greg Raymer, they had him playing low limit tables all over the place. He would play a table for 30-40 minutes, then go take an empty seat at another one.
Chairs were really nice and comfortable. Waitresses did food service for those who didn't want to get up and go eat, you ordered and eventually it was delivered to you at the table. No problem with ****tail service, the girls were around most of the time before you wanted anything else.
In Maryland soft drinks/water/coffee and free, alcohol costs but they will take the money and bring the drink to the table to you.
I think now I'll wait a day or two until the place calms down, while I do want to play a lot of poker there I don't have any urge to wait in a line to get in.
