Be careful gambling with cryptocurrency if you are in the UK.
The gambling commission have apparently decided overnight that cryptocurrency now has some form of recognised monetary value, despite previously stating cryptocurrency sites did not require licenses, because they refused to recognise the existence of cryptocurrency at all.
The result is that they are now writing to cryptocurrency gambling sites in order to try to ban UK IP addresses from using them. Some of these sites are giving in to this request as they do not want the hassle of thinking about legal loopholes, although others may equally return the favour in failing to recognise the uk gambling comission as having jurisdiction over the entire World Wide Web.
It is all just a bit of a sad mess really and another reminder that the government don't really care about civil liberties and are willing to exercise censorship of cryptocurrencies from the UK people. After all, cryptocurrency is a fair and anonymous way to trade, and therefore it doesn't require a government making any money off it...
This blow comes after last year's gambling tax reforms, which hindered British users on traditional currency offshore gambling sites. Of course, the small users are always the last to hear about any of this news until their chips randomly disappear as a result of a random site banning them without any real explanation.
Hence I have to post here to warn any random British person recreationally gambling in their underpants, with what is essentially monopoly money, that their harmless pastime hobby is a terrible treasonous act and for their sins they must be eternally punished!
